Good morning, An interesting question. I have many favorite band/ musicians. What I listen too sometimes depends on my mood, time of day, what I'm thinking about,what has happened that day, etc. I enjoy the music of Duke Ellington, Scott Hamilton, Monk, Bud Powell,Lester young, Dianna Krall, Wynton Marsalis, to name just a few.
Looking for some advice. I have 5 classic jazz calendars 1998 to 2002 inc. featuring 12 musicians per year. The black and white photos are the work of Herman Leonard and William Gottlieb. Each month features a photo and brief bio of that particular musician.The calendar page also lists the birthdays of many well known jazz musicians .The paper is heavy and glossy. There are no marks on the pictures but the calendar page has been marked with a yellow highlighter and some writing, I used these calendars when I hosted a jazz radio program. It assisted me in preparing for the program. I would like to list them in Ron's Jazz Store but have no idea of their value. Any ideas. Thanks Ron
My FAvorite Jazz Bands or indiviuals are west montgomery and jeff beck (but hes more jazz fuison if anything but its still jazz) and my favortie Charlie Christian, solo fight!!!
Some of my favorite artists are: John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Horace Silver, Hank Mobley, Art Blakey, Charles Mingus, Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, Lee Morgan, Donald Byrd, Clifford Brown & Max Roach, Kenny Dorham, Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, Lou Donaldson, Monty Alexander, Gigi Gryce, Oliver Nelson, Lucky Thompson etc...
i've lost all hope of anyone coming back to the jazz neighborhood, but i'm going to keep on going anyway. what i listen to ALWAYS depends on my mood, the weather, where i'm at (literally & figuratively), who i'm with, etc., etc. that being said.......
Miles Davis,Wes Montgomery,Horace Silver,Chet Baker,The Duke,The Count to name a few. now, if i could include some vocalists.... nah, i'll wait and see if anyones coming back to the neighborhood first!
Hands down, being a pianist, I'm a big fan of Bill Evans, Duke Pearson, Oscar Peterson, McCoy Tyner, Thelonius Monk, Tommy Flanagan, Harry Connick Jr, Duke Ellington, Count Basie .... so many to list, and all with completely different styles!!
I Enjoy most music, especially jazz, blues, classical, occasionally country, folk and some pop.
