Just bought an 04' Wrangler Unlimited, and I'm having a hard time believing that I can keep the top off and it can rain, and my CD player, and everything else in the car won't get ruined. It's all stock, but it still seems a little unrealistic. Is it really true???

Simple answer is no..Jeeps are not waterproof. The only thing you can do during a rainstorm is turn off your radio and put the detachable faceplate (if so equipped) in the console. This goes for GPS satellite radios...etc.
I got caught in a rainstorm once and when I got home there was 1 1/2 of water in the floor and rain inside my gauge cluster.
If this happens to you simply remove the body plugs to drain the water, remove the carpet, and park the Jeep in the sun. By days end all should be dry.

Waterproof I don't think so. I have a 2000 jeep wrangler sahara and as a New Yorker to the heart I kept my hard top on my jeep. Now I live in Florida and I still have the hard top on because it constantly rains. Water still trickles down through the doors which messed up my rug and rusted the floor a bit especially on the passenger door. I had to rip out the rugs, sand down the rust &, bought a rubber coating spray. Once dried I spray painted the floor in black. It looks good and looks more rugged. That is the only drawback that I find with my jeep that water still trickles in. I don't even want to imagine with a soft top.

I have a jeep wrangler tj 2000 with no hardtop at all. When I bought it, I never thought of the hardtop so now I'm stuck with a softtop and half doors on my jeep with no hardtop or full steel doors for the winter. With the kind of winters we have in Canada, you would think I messed up real bad right? But NO...I've had my softtop all year long and never had a problem nor a leak, not one single snow or rain drop in my jeep. I've checked the floors and everything, not one spot of rust. So to answer your question, if you have a top on, rain nor snow will get in (to my experience) and if you don't have a top on at all, OF COURSE IT'S NOT WATERPROOF lol.

i got an 89 yj and it is not water proof but pretty darn close.

i got my tub herculined and all my radio components at marine. amp, subwoofe, head unit, speakers.

all plugs are pulled so water just drains right out.

seats are not cloth they just are vinyl i think they are stock..

i have zero issues with my jeep and water. i havent had a top or doors on the jeep in 2 years. just have to pull out the carpet and clean it real good to keep down the mold and mildew. but i couldnt live with a top. if it snows i cover it and drive my ford.
