Has anybody run into any Lisner jewelry that might possible be fake? I've been noticing a number of round brooches that all seem to be the same, in mint condition, signed Lisner with various color rhinestones. In fact, last year I bought the same brooch which was unmarked. Now I see the same brooch with signed Lisner. They are all gold metal rather than silver.
Lisner made a number of pieces both signed and unsigned in all color ranges and prices so it's hard to say. I don't think its unusual to see the same pieces in a lot of different places. As a matter of fact I have 2 identical lisner brooches and they came from two different sources
The one to look out for is Fake Weiss. I have purchased several of them, knowing they are fake. But they were very pretty. The Fake Weiss has very big brooches with iridescent and colorful rhinestones, sometimes not the colors that were originally made in the time period. The best way to tell a Fake Weiss is if all the Rhinestones are glued in, with no prongs. A lot of the older Weiss have prong set stones but not the newer repro Weiss.
Thanks for the responses. I know the fake Weiss, not personally, thank goodness. I myself have numerous duplicate pieces of Lisner, primarily thermoset pieces. But these Lisner pieces I'm seeing are just not sitting right with me. I should also add that sometimes one person has three or four duplicate brooches in a couple of colors. I can't see a lot of profit in it for anyone though. Maybe I'm just getting paranoid in my old age.
