There's the WSJ article and now for a funny announcement!!

My fiance (or that guy who's lived here for a year) FINALLY told his mother we're getting married. News flash, she knows you live here!

He still has not settled on a date, but "might" have found a location he likes.

Hopefully he can make a choice before, oh, say, the kids all start school and have to explain why everyone has a different last name!
Useful Funny
Congrats, I think!. I hope you are all very happy,

Congratulations!! My fiancee', aka to our employees, for each of our businesses, husband proposed over 7 years ago. Now with my business going on, a hair salon, and licensure and a 2 year old, we are not "legally" still. LOL I was so much thinner then, I was going to wear my aunts' dress but again, we are talking 7 years and the two year old is our third child (18 and 11 year old girls). And the metabolism thing after 30. lol That dress is in the closet and sitting, and I am not sure what to do with it, I cannot sell it as 3 family members already wore it and it was even my great aunt's prom dress that she altered. Maybe I could make her a nice blanket with it? lol I love our life together and would not change a day.........sorry to go on and on..........anyway, Kudo's your way!!

Don't worry about the different last names at the school. When we moved down here I had to explain why the kids, dad and mom all had the same name. It seem unreal to them that my husband and me were still together and everyone had the same last name at the same address. It didn't seem strange to me. Amy

Congrats! I wish you both much happiness.

As for the dress, save it for your daughter and have a copy made in an appropriate size. Then all your wedding pictures will have the "family" dress.

I just thought it was funny that he was afraid to tell his mom! What she's gonna tell you "No"? He's a lot younger than me, so maybe that's it.

My husband and I had already gotten married before we told his mom. She was the b from h and she took it like a man. We just decided on my lunch hour to go ahead and get married so we did and then I had to go back to work. Great honeymoon. LOL Amy Oh he is younger too.

Could be interesting to discuss dating/mating experiences here.

After my wife passed, I suddenly found myself considering 'dating' for the first time since I was in college!

I could write a few books about my experiences or start a new business with slogans for T-shirts and bumper stickers!

The less funny side - I met a lot of women, wounded by prior relationships, and unprepared/unwilling to commit.

My hubby is younger than me, we met and got married overseas so I did not meet the in-laws until it was all said and done. From the day we met until the day we got married was less than five months, our first day was the week after we got married. From the day we first dated, (not our first dat) to the day we married was less than two months.
Everyone said it would not last etc etc etc. We have had our ups and downs and we are still married, next January will be 31 years.
I would not change a day, even the bad ones made the good ones great!

Jo with a gal like you he would be stupid to get rid of you. You are soooo sweet and nice. To Paul don't give up. The 2nd right woman is out there for you. I saw this with my Dad. He was sooo happy with his girlfriend and she was sooo happy with him. She is a wonderful person. But my Dad died to soon so they never got to get married. But at least they had some time together. Well Paul, maybe we should compare notes. I could tell you that I thought a "naturist" was someone who loved the outdoors, fishing, rocks etc. like me. His interpretation was a "nudie" camp. Lets see , than there was the guy who was " a few pound overweight". Sat down in my friends kitchen to have coffee and the chair splintered and he was too heavy to get up off the floor and we had to call the paramedics. (he was over 500 lbs). The there was the guy that got into the barroom brawl and got arrested and I had to bail out of jail;. He paid me back in 150 dollars worth of change, do you have any idea how heavy that is?????.v+ ROFLMAO
Another guy bought 10 lbs. worth of shrimp for me to peel then spent all the time talking to his ex-girlfriend on the phone. I went to leave, he didn't turnn of the porch light, I "air" stepped, fell into the gravel, skined my knees, tops of my feet, got lotst going home and bled all over the place.

I haven't had a date in a very long time. Internet dating is not quite working for me.

LOL, Silk, we should compare notes, too! I've dated a few doozies myself, but your stories are too funny! Had one guy who stated he was "all about communication," but every time I opened my mouth he'd mumble under his breath and leave the room, or if we were in the car he'd crank up the radio full blast. I guess what he meant by that "communication" remark was that it was all about him talking and me listening. :-) Another guy, who I was falling for really fast, turned out to be a doper. Ack. He was baffled that I didn't want to go with him to his friends' house and sit around and watch them all get high, and he let me drive away while he went off to get stoned. I swear, this dating thing is for the birds!

Thanks Amy, but I don't think he has plans on trading me in, we are in it for the long haul.
Dating was bad enough when I was in my late teens and early twenties! I would hate to be doing it now.
I have a brother a neice and my husbands nephew who all me the love of there lives on the internet, my brother was still living in the UK and his girlfriend was living in Australia, she took a trip to England to met him, they took a trip out her to Vegas and got married. Good thing to, that way we got to go. They now live in Australia and are very happy!
So there is hope for everyone.
Good luck ladies, and you Paul if you are still looking.
