Don't you hate how Kiss has there face on so many different things. They do have some great music though.
Useful Funny
That's the $immon$ way of doing business. They say all items are personally approved by the band (or at least Gene).

They getting old now any money is all important to Gene as many of us know.

Thats part of it. The money they make off of the products has helped keep them in the spotlight longer than most bands. Also, because of the marketing we get all the rare DVD's, and bootlegs etc that most fans of other bands never get to experience. I understand how the marketing can bother some people but it is a business, Kiss/Gene just happens to be really good at it.

Nope... don't hate it at all... I also enjoy collecting Kiss stuff as much as their music... My entire office downstairs is decorated with Kiss 'stuff'..... Their image and persona is part of what makes them great....

Gene = God of Thunder = God of Marketing.... : )

Hi,
I love it!!!!! I have been a kiss fan from 1976 at the age of 13. I have bought, sold, and lost many great items. I have a very nice poster collection now. One of my favorite things to do now that I have a computer is flip through ebay KISS items for sale and see all the things I had over the years, things I have now, and different versions all around the world. It is like a history museum!!!!! No other rock band has ever impacted the public and fans like KISS. They were the first ones to start marketing items for their fans. It was SOOOO cool when the inserts came with the new album. We would just marvel at all the cool posters and packages you could order. It was so hard scrounging up money to buy something out of the album insert order form. Only the lucky kids could pull that off!!!! But we all had our special kiss stuff. It was like GOLD!!!!

I only like the older merchandise from the 70's. You can keep your toothbrushes and your chapstick. I only spend my money on the vintage items. That other stuff is JUNK

Gene is a marketing genius! Also, lets the fans have access to almost anything they want! Wish they would bring back some classic posters though!

KISS is a business. Gene doesn't hide the fact that he wants to make money. So, sell out? No

The only thing that bothers me is that I can't afford to buy it all. In 30 years I'll probably be wearing KISS undergarments while I' am getting around in my KISS wheelchair.

Wanting to make money by selling alot of merchandising is not selling out. Changing your music and thus losing your integrity just to make money instead of making music for the sake of making music is selling out. Metallica did it, KISS have not. Now don't get me wrong some bands change their music simply cause they want to, not to please the record labels or try to get new fans from it, if that happens that's just coincidence. Examples of sounding like selling out but not selling out are Tiamat, Cradle Of Filth and Avenged Sevenfold. They are not sell outs, just changed their music cause THEY wanted to. But that's just what I think.
