Hi. I wouldn't say I'm a "customizer", but I am interested. I have a few ideas of my own that I'd like to take a stab at, but I'd like to be sure that I know what I'm doing before I start. Would you be willing to answer a few questions for me?

First of all: your creations are great, sorry for the delay in response, and thank you for your kindness! =)
My first question pertains to what types of medium you use (paint(?) and/or molding clay(?)). I am dedicated to making a lego carousel for my daughter and do not know the first thing about customizing legos! I use acrylic for canvas-work, but I figured that this will not suffice for this type of project as it may scratch while being handled. I have considered car model paints, but I guess it's just a matter of trial and error; is that how you found your medium?

you will have to play around with it to find a paint that will work with what you want. the key is to get a good clear coat. krylon makes a few good coatings depending on what kind of a shine you want. I use latex paints with a gloss clear coat. I also use what is called magic sculpt to add the details that lego doesn't have. it is a two-part resin and can be sculpted and painted. I hope this helps

Does the paint/Krylon interfere with the joints being posable? Or do you have a trick for that? I guess in my case it would be best for the heads of the horse to be set and nonmovable, but I'd want the minifigs to be posable.
(By the way, thanks for all your help.) =)

the best way is to use light coats and change the position of the joints ever so slightly each time so you reduce the amount of paint build up. another trick is to use a brush and paint around the joints instead of spaying them. sorry it took so long to respond work is been really busy.

I have customized a few Star Wars lego Models in the past year. I have done the XR-85 Tank Droid from the expanded univers along with the Super Star Destroyer Executor, for the complete list just check out my ME page. I am always looking for constructive critism along with ideas.

it looks good I can give you a few ideas. I did a wolverine myself that came out real cool. I am currently working on some cylone raider figures terminator figures, and a line of halo figures. I also do mold work and I have some of the guns from the halo game in production. most of my stuff is by custom order but I plan to have a store open on line this summer.
