I believe Ford did away with the nightmare suspension after the Mark VIII.

It's real easy to check. If you want to be precise, measure the distance from the top of the tire to the fender well without any weight in the car. Then place a hundred lbs in the trunk and measure the distance from the same location. Now you want to get in the car and drive it a couple hundred feet, leave the engine running and get out of the car and check the distance from the tire to the fender well again. If it's the same as before the load, you have an auto leveling system.

When you turn the ignition on without starting the car do you hear a pump in the engine compartment running? My Mark VII raises the car before starting the engine. I had 250 lbs in my trunk the other day and the car leveled out in less than a minute.
