Being the first to join this group, I wasn't sure if I wanted to start a discussion or wait for someone else to do so. I decided why not, just get the ball rolling. So on that note, I figured a discussion about useful ideas for Longaberger Baskets would be a wonderful icebreaker :)

Hopefully I won't be having this discussion with myself - lol

Feel free to share with others how you use your baskets.
i.e. which baskets you use, what you put in them, do you just use for show/decor, do you give away as gifts or keep for yourself, etc...

Thanks for sharing!

I never bought the magazine basket, so I use my Homecoming basket for magazines. It's the perfect size for them, and they lay flat so they won't buckle and fold over.

I use a magazine as a waste next to my couch. It fits nicely between the table and the couch.
A 13" measuring is my waste basket in the bathroom. Lots of room in it!!
Picnics are used for mittens and hats by the front door in winter, or all your knitting or crocheting projects. I also use one for a bread box.
9" & 11" Measurings are used on my kitchen counter for utensils or as planters.
Large market for magazines.
Vanity or a Bread baskets are used for curling irons or blow dryers in the bathroom.
Medium purse for storing my votives or tea light candles.
Medium Washday for throws or quilts in the living room.
I could go on and on. The ideas just come to you.

I am a consultant and tell people, only buy the baskets you intend on USING!!!
I have many scattered throughout my home, but a couple of my favorites are:
I use my market basket on the kitchen counter to hold loaves of bread, buns, etc. upright and easy to move.
Also have my TV time basket with woodcraft divider on the kitchen counter, holding napkins in the back along with plastic silverware in the front compartments.
Wall Pocket basket hangs on the fridge via a strong magnet and my preschooler stores her magnetic alphabet letters in it!

I have numerous Longaberger baskets. I use the small gathering to as a display basket for Ohio State football items. I use the sping basket to hold my bills, stamps, and envelopes .We use the medium vegitable in the kitchen to hold the bread and the cake basket to hold bottes of liquer. I use the wrought iron orginizational unit as a mini bar and that sits on the top.

We have baskets all over the house. Some are used as intended - an umbrella basket and stand that sits by the door and holds umbrellas, waste baskets that collect trash, and tissue holders that hold tissues - and others that are just plain used becaus we need a place to collect loose stuff - another umbrella basket that collects corks from our favorite wines, a homestead crock that holds spare keys, and many others that hold anything that needs containing, like remote controls, coupons, and just plain odds and ends. Can't get enough of them and always looking for more! Especially enjoy "rescuing" them from garage sales, but shed tears when they've been painted or badly abused.

I agree. I hate to see baskets that have been painted or otherwise abused. I found a "Mothers Day" basket where someone cut off the handle. I have found many lately at garage sales at bargain prices......$20.00 or under. I snatch them up. I love the hunt at sales to find them. I did through boxes of plain old baskets and sometimes come up with the prize.

I USE my baskets, and am known at my son's school as the 'basket lady'...some affectionately call me a 'basket case'~lol!!~ I use my lg picnic to store dry dogfood-YEP, dogfood! My 2pie holds the bagged food & no one has ever guessed there was dog food in either! I use my Med.Boardwalk to carry my Bible(s) to church, has plenty of room for pens, highlighters, notepad, etc.& I get plenty of comments! I use my Med Market EVERYDAY~that's what I carry into school for various things...pta,band parents, etc. I also bought a custom basket w/ our school colors & music note tacks...Go Marching Hawks!!! I love it...I even have a Large Gatehouse on the handle of my Oreck that holds Febreeze,a swiffer duster, etc so it's right there when I need it(in case I see a cobweb or something:) Just a few ideas from me!

Is this Heaven? A bunch of Longaberger chicks together?! I'm so happy I can't even begin to think of what I use my baskets for. ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING! The boat basket sits on my bathroom counter with little crafts and things on the shelves. It lookes so cute! I use the serving tray in my kitchen to hold a very large collection of cookie cutters that I use daily.

I have hundreds of Longaberger products. Display some and use others. I keep small laundry at the bottom of stairs and put things in it that need to go up. When my son got married, I started my daughter-in-law off with baskets as gifts. When the row-row-your-boat basket came out, I sent it to my son who spent 10 years in the Coast Guard and who is now in the yacht business In Florida. My daughter-in-law keeps it full of his favorite snacks, next to his chair and he loves it. I use the small gathering basket on the bottom shelf of the small bakers rack for bread.

Not only do I use the baskets, but I buy extra protectors from some of the larger baskets to use by themselves. They are great on a shelf to organize everything. Especially small items. Everything stays just where you put it. I can easily grab one protector to get at just what I need in a hurry because I can see through the plastic. I got this tip from my sister who used to be a Longaberger consultant. Have a great day!

My magazine basket sits beside the sofa and contains my needlepoint projects and I use the picnic basket for magazines and newspapers. I'm on a lot of medications and I keep all of them in the long, oblong tissue box with the lid. When I come home from golfing, I drop the used golf balls from my pocket into the wildflower basket. And, I always keep an extra button basket with various liners on hand for housewarming gifts. Then I can match the liner to their decor.

Let's see, I have a cracker basket on top of my stove for my most used spices, a tv time basket for the remotes (of course) and one on my desk for office supplies. I have a bread basket in the bathroom that holds kleenex and other small toiletries. We also have a spring basket that holds our controllers and headsets and things for our Xbox.

There's a million and one things to do with them, part of why I love selling them!
