Being the first to join this group, I wasn't sure if I wanted to start a discussion or wait for someone else to do so. I decided why not, just get the ball rolling. So on that note, I figured a discussion about useful ideas for Longaberger Baskets would be a wonderful icebreaker :)

Hopefully I won't be having this discussion with myself - lol

Feel free to share with others how you use your baskets.
i.e. which baskets you use, what you put in them, do you just use for show/decor, do you give away as gifts or keep for yourself, etc...

Thanks for sharing!

Well hmm lets see, first THANK GOD FOR LONGABERGER COLLECTORS. I use my sml key with a kleenex lid to hold my roll up garbage bags threaded thru the top. My spring basket in the bathroom for toothbrushes and paste. Vanity on the back of the toilet to hold cottonballs, makeup sponges, q-tips..(it also hides the personal products underneath). I use my CC spring meadow for magazines and word searched in the restroom. My sml gathering for everything i carry from place to place and into the car to keep organized. I use just the dishwasher safe protectors for just left overs etc through out my kitchen, including just the canister (sealing) protectors w the basket weave for flour, brown sugar, reg sugar, and powdered works great and dont dirty up the actual baskets from the spillage, and SAVES money from buying the full sets. I could go on and on..I love the ideas keep them coming!!!

Oh my you dont want to know how many baskets I have scattered around my house (lots lots lots )
Market baskets I use for holding DVD, Catch all for mail (keeps it off my kitchen table. Little market baskets are always nice for your bathrooms I put liquid handsoap, toothpaste and lotion in them. Large boardwalk I put the guest towels and washclothes in the guest bathroom in that. Letter tray with the dividers i use them for catch all's in the kitchen cause we all know how much stuff after work we have in pockets (change, extra ). My gathering baskets hold all my forms and catalogs in them in my office. I also have 2 lines of baskets that do not hold anything they are my collectables. ( all 13 seasons of the HOH baskets) and (all bonnie's may series baskets and miniatures ) I am now organizing my closets with the new coming out in march the storage baskets and large fabric dividers work great also. So you can see there are many uses for these baskets and are a decor to anyones house. I love my laundry baskets as well walk through your house with style as you unload and fold your clothes (LOLOL).
I could go on and on about my baskets but I only have a limited amount of letters to type hee hee. Oh yeah I prefer the rich brown as my stain it goes much nicer with my furniture.

I just starting buying Longeberger baskets and I love them. I think I have gone a little ga ga over them. The first time I saw one was in a pile of garbage outside of a home flooded by the hurricane Katrina. There were actually two. I salvaged both and love them, I can't believe they were being thrown away. I am using a large gathering basket in my kitchen for a bread/chip/goodie box. I use my popcorn basket (with divided protector) in my bathroom. I am really just starting to learn what I can use them for, but I am hooked.

Well we just bought a new home to fit the baskets in 2003, we bought a 14 room home and my basement is still half full of boxes of longaberger......LOL I use alot of my baskets but I have run out of things to do with them. I have to say the best use we get is toilet tissue paper in them. When we bought our new home we also bought a new baby Maltese puppy and she loves paper. She use to sting it from the guest bath through the whole bottom floor of the house. So now there is basket (of course with lid) sitting close by. I also use the tissue basket for this, A roll of tissue paper fits great in them. I also have close to 500 pieces of the pottery which I loved untill it started coming from China and there really is a difference in quality.

Does anyone take their market baskets to the market?

Best way to go green at the grocery with Longaberger! No plastic bags to deal with at home. Better yet, no baskets to touch that have been touched by anyone else, so no need for sanitizing wipes!
