Have a training video and is working great but wonder what else could be possible.

Honestly, with martial arts, you get what you pay for. If you're really interested in becoming a martial artist (as opposed to just fitness), you need to decide what type of martial arts you are looking for...something traditional such as Taekwon Do or Aikido, or something more modern, such as HaganaH F.I.G.H.T., or MMA?
If you are only looking for cheap fitness, a gym membership would be perfect for you.

I have to agree with blueangel you will get out what you put into it. Once you have decided on a style focus on that one. As a martial artist I am interested in all of the arts and I admire them for what they are. I will train with other artist and teach them my art. However I stay focused on the art I have been grounded in. Goju Ryu, Ju jitsu, and Judo.

I agree with both your replies. There is no substitute for an Instructor, no matter which art you decide on. An Instructor can give you feedback on your moves that you couldnt give yourself.

HI
i would definitely take a martial art class or one that covers more than one kind such are class teaches wing chun, MUY THAI, grappling, etc, cuz you learn something new almost every week and I suggest finding a class were they have more than one black belt teaching the class cuz everybody kind of have their own way of doing things and then you learn what works best for you. I will say one thing in grappling moves or certain techniques used in MMA may not work exactly the same way on different size people. Expect to get bumps and bruises, but the instructors should have good knowledge and demonstrate of what not to do to keep yourself from getting seriously injured. Hope this helps

The response above is excellent. Also, you may want to check your local adult ed./continuing ed. for free or nearly free lessons. This is a good introduction to a martial art, and you are not too invested in time or money if you find out that it is not for you. Learning from a video alone is both dangerous and impractical, often what you think you see is not really what is happening. You really need some experience to be able to process the information in a video (or a book) and have it actually help you to learn.

(I have been practicing aikido for 25 years and teaching for 10, but this is one thing I learned from my students.)

Best of luck. I hope you find the art that resonates with you and makes you want to learn, and learn, and learn. Osu.
