how many of us die hard metallica fans want to see him back? i,for one,am raising both arms!!! COME BACK!!! also, since his birthday is a day after mine,HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASON!! (his is on march 4th)
Useful Funny
no, if anything you should do some voo doo and get cliff to raise from the dead. i hope you aren't implying you hate robert. hes not the reason the band changed, i dont know what jason would bring to the band. james and lars always wrote everything. honestly i think after this next album life will be better, theyre tuning back to e which will force james to write riffs that arent stock and lar's drums wont sound so poppy. so i dont know why you would want jason back. uhh eco brain sucks. no offense to you.

I'm on board with Claysgirl. Of course I'd rather have Cliff back than anyone, but since that isn't possible Jason is the #2. Trujillo is having an impact on the new sound. I saw an interview with James and Robert where James was talking about how Robert was pushing really hard for a number of different riffs on the new cd, all of which I thought were really bland and monotonous. (Like the end of "The Day That Never comes") All I know is that with Jason the band put out the Justice cd, Black Album, Load/ReLoad, Garage Inc, & S&M. All badass cd's. With Robert they've put out one massive disappointment in St. Anger and the new cd which is better than St. Anger but still doesn't quite live up to Metallica's potential. How much of that has to do with the switch at Bass is uncertain, but it definitely doesn't reflect well on Trujillo's contribution. That being said, I actually like Trujillo. Just not on Metallica!

Jason was good- and he went on to do something else. It's not like there is a law that says he can't. Likewise, there also isn't one saying that if whatever he leaves to go do doesn't work out, that they have to take him back. Robert has done a good job filling the slot that Jason gave up. At any rate- NO ONE kicked as much ass, or will be missed as much as Cliff. I don't think that there is a die hard fan out there that would pick Jason over Cliff- EVER! With that said, I would like to point out that I do prefer Jason to Robert- but only by a small margin, and that St. Anger was bad because there were bad things going on with almost everyone in the band and it was reflected in their music- you can hardly blame Turjillo- he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. You can't expect the new guy to help fix the turmoil in a band that has been together as long as these guys have been right away. I think that guy gets a tough break from a lot of fans, but really we all know deep down where the fault lies-I'm sure quite a few of us saw 'Some Kind of Monster". At least that problem has been remedied, and they are refocused on what matters most. You can't be a die hard fan and not have faith that it's going to get better from here on.

A couple of you are forgetting that Rob joined AFTER St Anger was recorded; Bob Rock produced and played bass for the album.

As far as Jason coming back, I'd sure like to see it. Rob's cool on bass, but Jason is also. That, and he's just a better performer on stage. Remember that he did a lot of the vocals when Jaymz hurt his back during the 2000 Summer Sanitarium tour, plus did vocals during some other songs regularly, like Whiplash.

And yes, Cliff was the total bad ass that no one could ever come close to.

some people are forgetting that Trujillo came in AFTER St. Anger. he had NOTHING to do with that album. Newsted was a good bassist, but Rob just does a better job. plus his stage presence is one that cannot be ignored. And Justice for all was good, but you need to remember Newsted only helped write 1 of the songs -Blackened- . so if you look at it carefully, Rob is actually contributing MUCH more to the band than Jason did.
