Take a look at what kind of feedback your buyer has is the first thing you should always do. However ebay being very stupid took the sellers right to send negative feedback. That destroyed any indication that the buyer has been a non-paying bidder.
The key pattern I have seen to watch for is international buyers and buyers with less than 10 feedback. Make sure you stay on these guys. Email them the same day with winning buyer and payment reminder notifications. Even a friendly how do you plan on paying email will work sometimes too. As long as you keep on these guys you will be ok. Also send that unpaid items strike as soon as you can. Dont let people play games with you. Some might say " I will pay in a week when I get my check" dont be fooled. Send the unpaind item strike then take it off once paid. Let the buyer know thats what you plan on doing so they dont think that they cant do anything since you put a strike on there account.
Ebay is making things much harder on sellers to increase the number of consumers who feel safe purchasing on the web. Put your self in the buyers shoes now. You will see that you can do just about anything and get away with it now on ebay. So why the hell not feel safe as can be purchasing items on ebay. Whats the worst ebay can do shut your account down. HA HA HA HA HA a buyer would laugh at something so small of a punishment. So all in all thank ebay for there ignorance to the true fundamentals of a transaction. One day hopefully the idiot that makes these rules wakes up in there 24kt Gold Bed sheets and say our new policies really suck!!!
