i racently had a buddy show me a pair he got on ebay, they were dated 68 and were panama tread, spike protective and all. the thing that threw me off was that it didnt have a stitch on the heal like every other pair ive seen have. did some contractors not put in this stitch, or did it stop after a certain year?
Useful Funny
Contractors who made boots had slight variations. I am surprised that he got a Panama sole dated that far back. I did two tours there plus one in Thailand (3 years total in SE Asia) and left Thailand in July of 73. I did all I could to get Panama soles but usually got stuck with the other ones that collected dirt clods and always needed t be cleaned with a screwdriver or a stick every day, especially if it rained or was muddy. Flip side on the Panama soles was that they wore kind of fast. Truth is, there were half a dozen contractors making boots and you will see some variations. Just like helmet covers too. I honestly never saw a date inside the boots............you sure they are real or chink copies?
