I bet if you are stinky rich you aren't interested a bit on this matter. For the rest of us, where do you suggest buying cheap genuing nikkor lenses? I mean ok with e-bay, but what about other sites? adorama.com is among the cheapest ones i think.
On e-bay i tried cameta-camera. They are good but shipping to europe is expensive. Suggestions people?
If digital is it DX or FX? They are different and one can use either lens format where the other cannot.
If you have a newer DSLR like the D200, such as I have, you can use most any lens Nikon has made since the late 70s. No manual focus cameras cannot claim that. Some of those older lens designs are still around and still making great photos in film and digital. I have a few, and won't part with them because of how cheap I got them and how damn good they are.
Post your camera model and I or someone else can help you further. With no information on what you expect from a lens or even what camera you have would only make for a rather long post on my account, shooting in the dark as it were. The information I need to be able to help you is: what camera, what do you shoot, action, scenics, wildlife etc. Different subjects may require different lenses.
A good start for finding those cheap lenses that many turn their nose up at can be found at:
Have bought a couple from Cameta. They are good. However, expect to lose a lot of auctions. If you want a D40-50-60 stop bidding at $250 and have patience, you will eventually win. Pick a camera where the end is 2AM or so and sneak up on it.
