I just received a DS lite for Christmas and was told that I could also play GameBoy Advance (SP) on it. Is this true? What is the difference in graphics?
KNow nothing much about this game yet so you could some pointers. Also, what are the best games to get?
Well, you should notice that the system has 2 cartrige slots one on the bottom and the other on top. The bottom slot it for GBA games and the top one is for DS games. GBA advance games of course, look identical to the way they look on the GBA except that since the DS screens are bigger they will have a black border around the gameplay screen. You can play on either of the two DS screens. DS games are altogether different. The Nintendo DS is a leap over the GBA the same way the N64 was a leap over the SNES and then some. The NDS is primarily a 3D graphics based system. The graphics have been described by some as being between playstation one and N64 quality. Also the bottom screen is a touch screen that allows you to control games with the included stylus provided they have been programmed with that functionality. For example, the stylus is used to look around in some first person shooter games the same way you use the mouse on a pc in the same type of games. and that's just one of many examples. Anyway, I hope that explains how much different the DS is from the GBA.
PS to answer your second question some of the best games for the system are (according to several game magazines and just plain sales numbers):
Mario Kart DS Metroid Prime Hunters The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Nintendogs WarioWare Touched! Super Mario 64 DS (a remake of the N64 classic) Brain Age (a very "casual gamer" game, lots of puzzles and sudoku and stuff)
First off, you must know that when you buy a GBA game to play on your DS you won't be able to link up with anyone else, so lets say you bought Mario Kart for GBA, you won't be able to play againt your friends with it.
I recently bought Mario Party DS the week it came out, and it's a really fun game. I also purchased Nintendogs as a gift and was told that was a fun game as well.
