Does anyone like Doo Wop. I really like the music from the '40's, '50's, and early '60's, but, I could listen to Doo Wop 24/7. Somebody tell me they like it,too, and I'm not just a weird old man.
Sure ... doo wop is great, if well performed. I prefer more uptempo songs, which in the hands (rather: mouths) of a good group can swing like #&%! Favorites include Clovers, Five Keys, "5" Royales ... and on the smoother side I like Moonglows and Cleftones. Am thrilled that most of these guys did these harmonies with no musical knowledge whatsoever, just using their ears ... amazing!
Bob, I like Doo Wop and watched American Bandstand during the 1950s and early 1960s. I have a lot of 45 RPM records from around 1949 until I joined the Air Force in 1964. This winter duirng snow days, I plan to get them all arranged alphabetically by artist. Living here in West Virginia, I am sure that there will be quite a few snow days between December and April.
