So about 8-9 years ago I bought a couple of pez that were "signed" I know I didn't pay any extra for them, in fact, they were a good deal and pez I wanted so I got them...but I'm pretty sure the "signature" thing was some sort of scam... Anybody got any info on that?
I have a few star wars signed by the actors who played bobafet, chewbacca and c3p0. I paid about five bucks each when I found one of the stars where at a collectors fair at the nearby fair grounds. Love to get darth or luke!
They were supposedly signed by the designer. I can't remember the name and they're all in a box in the basement right now. They were signed on the inner sleeve. There was a big slough of them on ebay there for a couple of months.
In 2006 I purchased a MOC Wonder Woman that was said to be signed by Lynda Carter for a charity event. There was no COA, but I bought it on the chance that it is authentic. The signature is in felt pen on the card. It wasn't too expensive, so at the very least, I have a MOC dispenser.
The only dispensers that I am aware of that were signed by the designer are the Bugz, Emergency Heroes or Sourz. The signature is from Michael Morris. He owned a company called Roughs and Comps and provided most of the artwork to PEZ Candy Inc. for approx. 15 years. In 2005, he attended many of conventions and signed the dispensers for a donation to charity. You could have also purchased original artwork, concept sketches or proofs that didn't make it to final production.
I was fortunate enough to acquire the final camera-ready artwork that is used on the cardbacks showing how to load the dispenser with candy.
None of the so-called signed dispensers I bought were that new. I'm pretty sure Michael Morris was NOT the name either. In fact I purchased these back when I first started on ebay in 1998 or 99. I'm pretty darn sure it wasn't original artwork. Plus they were signed in felt tip. They were cool pez, that I wasn't seeing in the store, but were common enough on ebay.
