It depends on the lens. we have minolta auto focus lens for the auto film cameras and they will work great on the minolta digital we bought a couple yrs ago. We have not tried the manual lens. The bayonet should be the same, if so, try the auto focus lens or call your local camera store and pick their brain. dija2
All Canon Digital DSLR will only support EF, EF-S, TS-E, MP-E lens. If the lens of your Canon Film camera is one of those, your Digital can use it as well. Many New Canon Film camera support using EF, TS-E, and MP-E lens. To my understanding there is NO film camera in Canon support EF-S.
I read everyone's reply so far and the answers are only partially correct. Here's your complete answer...ALL Canon manufactured lenses that were originally made for Canon EOS film cameras WILL WORK with ALL Canon Digital EOS cameras. However, certain lenses exhibit a greater tendency for so-called "Purple Fringing" than the more recent versions that have been optically re-designed specifically for digital sensors. Still, they will all function perfectly fine. EXCEPTION!!!! The only exceptions would be lenses made by 3rd party manufacturers (i.e. Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, etc.) SOME of these lenses (depending on the age and manufacturer) may not work on the Canon Digital EOS because of Canon lens chip redesigns. Hope that helps!
The way I read this is will your film camera lens work with a canon digital. The mount is different,I think you can get an adapter but the electronics won,t work you are better off getting a lens made for the digital camera.
