Hi! What would the best digital camera to buy my daughter for her graduation gift? Something with a widescreen and special features. Also she wants a cool color! Thanks for your help and advise!
Useful Funny
Well, it depends on your need and her need. Mainly are based on the following:
1) size, compact or normal one?
2) quality, is picture quality necessary?
3) screen size, three inches? 3.5"? or bigger?
4) brand name, do you have any brand preferred? Sony? Canon? Kodak? or others?
5) functions, do you need professional manual control? or just simple functions?

Basically if you like picture quality more than Canon is the best. If you want a low price one Kodak is good. Many cameras now also have "wide angle" feature. That means you not longer need to step back to take group pictures. And, most cameras are only 3x optical zoom. If you need longer one you will search for those 4x(wide angle), 5x, or even 10x (wide angle). And the last thing, many new models will take high definition video as well.

If size is not a matter, Panasonic LUMIX TZ5 is a good one. It has 10x wide angle lens, with 3" LCD, and very smart system. But it is a little bit larger than normal camera (but still small though).

If you want manual functions, Canon Powershot G9 is good. But I am sure you are not looking for it since it is big.

Canon Powershot 870IS is highly rated as well. It has wide angle, compact size, and very good picture quality. But only silver color is available.

SONY T200 has very big screen, but you can only use touchscreen to control the camera.

I got my daughter a Sony W-120 for about $200. I like the fact that it has a Li-ion rechargeable battery and also it has a Carl Zeiss lens.... one of the best in the business. I also checked the Canons since I have owned two Canon film cameras, but was turned off by the AA battery issues... they seem to suck up the energy a lot quicker than a Li-ion battery. Also the W-120 comes in several colors. Hope this was helpful

I love my Sony 7.0 meg...pixals...It's always great because you can re-charge it and don't have to worry about purchasing batteries...and mainly
adding an EXTRA memory Card...Boy do we need a memory card...not 1 meg...because that fills up pretty much quickly when you are excited on taking photos..LOL. Wish you the best in finding the right cam for your daughter...Take care.
