My son enjoy all things pokemon including having battles with the cards. He is not particularly excited about holographic cards and is more focused on attacks and what they can do. I have proposed to him that since the holos are of more value to collectors I could sell the holos of pokemon he doesn't want and he could use the money he gets to buy more cards that he does want.
I have never sold anything on Ebay but I have bought most of the packs and decks he has on ebay. I was wondering if ther is any advice you seasoned sellers could share with me about selling.
Specifically, I was planning on selling the higher level one's invidually and the the basic and stage one evolution cards in lots of 10. I have seen sellers sell in random lots but I have never realy trusted that they were random and figured they took out the best cards out to sell individually. Which way is better?
Any advice on packing and shipping cards? How about selling when you have no feadback yet as a seller?
The best way I have found to sell is: In a store. (See PokebrokerUSA pokemon store) but if you do not have a lot of cards this would be too expensive. If not doing a lot like a store then the best is to sell the popular Rare Holos in a 7 day auction starting between .01 at 99 cents. The rest Commons and Uncommons you will most likely have to sell in sets in auctions with a 99 cent start price. A third option is to sell them wholesale to someone with a brick and mortar store or an online store.
A few tips. When listing your cards make sure to have the following in the title of the item. (This is what people will search by, and having the right words can make all the difference of how many views you get.)
*Include in the title* - -The word Pokemon -The Pokemon's name -If it is Holo, Rare, Uncommon or Common. -The sets name if you can find it or know it. -condition if you can fit it in, if not put it in the description.
*Things to remember* - -Remember EX's & Lv.X's are considered "Ultra-rare" and are worth between at least $10-$20 if not up to $35-$40 for some. However recently the price for ex's has kind of dropped due to the new Lv.X cards that have replaced them. -Any card with a shiny gold star next to it's name is referred to as Shining (or Pokemon-star) and are worth $20 + Which are also considered Ultra-Rare. Ultra rares are very hard to find in booster packs. -The best way to know what your cards are worth is to get an Issue of Beckett Pokemon Collector (They sell them at Toys R' Us in the Video Games section usually) You can also educate yourself with these books, and see what the hottest cards are.
*Shipping Cards* - Your rarest ones need to at least be in a card sleeve. (The holo's, ex, and Lv.x, shinings, etc...) A card sleeve with a hard toploader over it is recommended so the cards will not get bent on the way to their destination. You can get cards sleeves and toploaders and Toys R' Us too.
To send loose cards (like a lot of 10) put them in some kind of bag. (Ziploc bags work fine, but I prefer the Graded card sleeves which are big enough to stick 15-20 cards in, and keep the cards very clean.) Pack them tight so they don't move around too. (dont use any fillers in your packaging, because it will raise the weight, and price to ship, bubble wrap or bubble envelopes work nicely, though.)
