Hello, I'm wondering what everybody's favorite primitives are. Do you like the real antique primitives, such as antique hand made furniture etc or do you like the "prim" primitives, like OOAK dolls, bears, and other folk art pieces? Also, do you buy, sell or both? I make OOAK dolls but I really love the true antiques best of all! T
Hi! I love both. I love anything that has to do with the past and am especially found of dolls. I currently am not a seller (spending a lot of time helping with the grandchildren), but I plan to sell some things later. My husband and I only started going out to antique shops about 3 years ago (just didn't have time before) and we're getting hooked. I looked at your doll ... you are very talented.
I love aspects of both worlds. I have some old antique pieces that belonged to my grandmother and older. I treasure them dearly. I also handmake prim style dolls so enjoy that as well. Every corner of my home as a small piece of something "prim" LOL
Like you, I love the OOAK prim dolls, but I also love the primitive furniture with layers of paint peeling off. My brother always says that if it looks like it came from the dump, then I will like it! I make and sell primitive dolls and such on ebay, at shows, on my website and at a local shop. Sometimes I buy dolls from other crafters, but not very often since I can make them myself. I just discovered this neighborhood and hope to visit often. I didn't realize that such a thing existed!
I like a nice mix of old and new. It is getting harder and harder to find vintage pieces, but there are a lot of very talented people out there that still carry on the traditions of the old styles. I buy a few things that catch my fancy and sell a few too.
As for me, I like ANYTHING old. I was always very close to my maternal grandmother, which has made me terribly sentimental. She quilted and sold her quilts to make extra money. The old dolls and ones that look as if they were old are a current favorite. These things seem to have 'character"which is totally appealing to me..
