My Mom quilts and I would like to buy her some jelly rolls for a gift. I want to make sure I buy enough for her to be able to make a king size quilt for her bed. How many jelly rolls should I purchase for her?
thanks

Number of strips needed will vary with your pattern - a bargello design will take up many more times the fabric as a split rail or coins design. Also, read item descriptions carefully. Some are only half as wide as the "width of fabric", and some sellers offer only a few strips and not the entire fabric line. You need to read and understand exactly what the seller is offering before you bid.. It is easier to ask questions than deal with disappointment when your package arrives.

There is a book out called Jelly Roll Quilts by Pam & Nicky Lintott and they have really nice quilts that only need 1 or 2 jelly rolls. I just made a king size quilt with 3 jelly rolls. I had 120 (8") blocks and a 6" border. Maybe you can get your mom the book and a couple of jelly rolls to give her a few ideas. I found my book at JoAnn's and it was on sale for about fifteen dollars. I also put an auction number for you to see what the book looks like. Hope this helps. I would bet your mom will be happy with anything you get her.

Thanks Navy Mom, I was just wondering myself. Saw the book, thanks for the tip on that too. Anyone out there from the Bitterroot area?
