This is my favorite time of year to quilt, I do a lot of the piecing by machine (unless it is a very special gift) but all the quilting I do by hand, so when it is too warm for a fire but still needs something to warm me up a quilt is perfect.
I think you picked a good project to start with.

Hi, I am a returning piecer/quilter myself. I haven't done anything for over 5 years, so many things I want to do, too many really so will do a log cabin in fall colors I guess for a good start. Good luck, you will have such a wonderful time, even if it is your first. That is the one I am most proud of, my first quilt. Lots of thought, prayer and energy goes into one not to mention all the worries, hopes and dreams for loved ones. Enjoy and let us know how you are coming along with it. What state are you in?
