Hey...I am looking for a site where I can purchase cutting and faceting tools online. Does anyone have suggestions? Living here in Atlanta I get up to North Georgia where I have found great emeralds that have been faceted, rubies, citrine, moonstone, large sapphires, smokey quartz, etc..and it's expensive to have someone else do the work.

Hi,
Our 'rockhound' shops have mostly disappeared over the last 10 years here in Atlanta. Suggest you 'hook up' with the Georgia Mineral Society (Peachtree Industrial, inside Perimeter), the Cobb County Gem & Mineral Society (Northwest ATL) or the Cotton Indian Gem & Mineral Society (southside).

There are shows: GMS on Mother's Day weekend; Cobb the 2nd weekend of Nov.; Cotton Indian did a show in Oct. A show I started for GMS in Dec. is now privately run at the N. ATL Trade Ctr. You'll find them online, too.

All the above clubs have field trips. Always some members selling old equipment.

Most lapidary users buy equipment online or at the shows.

I'd love to use my faceting machine and cabochon hardware - no leisure time, unprofitable for business.

Someday, I may offer some of my rock & mineral collection online. Too busy with opals and jewelry to ever get a chance.

You will find hardware and rough sellers in lapidary journal, rock & gem. Just got a catalog today from www kingsleynorth com

We also have the William Holland School of Lapidary Arts in North Ga. Low cost education, 1 class subject per week. I learned faceting there, many many years ago.

Regards,
Paul
