My daughter is a great runner and I was wondering when she will reach her fastest pace. She is increasingly getting faster as training goes on. She is currently in 8th grade and on Varsity Cross Country.

I'm still fairly young, but I think my fastest times were when I was 16/17. The more consistent she is with her training, the faster she will get (to a certain extent). On a somewhat unrelated note, make sure she's taking care of her knees. My doctor told me (when I was having problems) that knee injury/irritation is prevalent among female teenage runners.

This is a great question. My running coach was talking about this last night at our weekly speed training. He said that the current research shows that our bodies are on a 10 year bell curve. At year five we reach our fastest. Then from there we level out and maintain our speed or endurance. It is so important to do speed training to build your endurance and speed the first 5 years of running because of this.
