Anyone running the Disney Full Marathon? Anyone that has done it in the past, what is with the two seperate starts for the full? Blue and red. I can't imagine that they would keep the elite divided from the rest of the pack for 3 miles.
Hi -- I've run Disney for the past 7 years; Goofy 3 times. The separate starts came into play when the race registration grew to over 20k participants. When you register and give approximate finish time (requires proof of time to get "elite" status), you're assigned corral placement. The separate starts allow the true elite runners to break out and get well ahead of the rest of the pack before the merge point. It has worked really well in the past. Good luck, I hope you will participate in this one -- truly the happiest race on Earth!
