My thoughts on this "Neighborhood" would be one of information more than products. But eBay is a major center for commerce so I won't be surprised if discussions stay along that line.

Personally, I own an Ericson 25+ and I am a novice. At the age of 55 there is still so much to learn!

eBay is one of many places to find new and used stuff. I have also met some great people.

Hi all! I see that 55 is a commonality, who would have thunk! yeehaa! I have been busy on my E-25. Finally got a sail inventory together. Stayed with one main, hope I don't regret it. Three jibs of various progression in sq ft and a cool spinnaker. Installed one of those boomkickers, it was an easy install and it works well. Been looking at sheets and how I have them setup. I think a rope lock aka rope clutch will be a nice addition for the main and jib halyards. I've been experimenting with single handed sailing and it's easy when the wind is well... easy. Kick it up a few knots and I find where I need help. I'm going to plug another fuel tank in on a separate fuel line. Does the word backup sound familiar? Went out today and it was sooo nice. Even those pesky jet skiers couldn't bother me, I was in the zone! I hope everyone, everywhere had a joyous weekend.

I have bought several boats on ebay. all have been cheap,or with problems, all fixer uppers. I bought a boat in St.Thomas,USVI when I turned 60. I went to the Caribbean to see the boat. Fix it and sail it. I worked on it for two years, found the workmanship in the Carib dreadful. Nobody wanted to do anything without me being there. I went into a Marina in Tortola, they did nothing and would not let me out. after nine months I finally got a hold of the owner, who happened to be the mother of the guy who kidnspped my boat, and I was able to get it back in the water. I ended sailing it to Florida and having it sink in hurricane Vilma.
I sold the remains on ebay in 2003.

Any thoughts on dehumidifiers for producing potable water, aka drinking water? I've researched the web and found pages upon pages of information. Most of it is commercial use but there is some information for home units. The reason I started looking at it is because the humidity/moisture while at sea has got to be as clean as anywhere. I'm thinking of a small wind generator with a separate 12V battery system and a small dehumidifier. Benefits would be reducing humidity inside the cabin at night when it is semi-sealed up, provide clean drinking water and keepinging the temperature down also. The key thing I want to keep in mind is , small, simple and safe.

I just joined this neighborhood and see that it doesn't have many posts. Is it still alive and functioning? I hope so. With the economy in the shape it's in I'm hoping that sailing will experience a revival. It's a truly "green" hobby at a time when green is very important.
