I really hate the new jerseys. Sharks Management should go back to the drawing board and design a better jersey. I did not see anything wrong with last year's jerseys. The only good benefit is that the old jerseys are really inexpensive now. I was able to pick up a practice jersey for $39.
I'm not a big fan of the new jerseys either. The logo is alright...there is not much to say there since it was drawn by the same guy who designed our original logo. However, the new jerseys are made with very light synthetic material and is significantly lighter than the old ones, which will improve the play and speed of the players. I actually just bought myself a non-pro away version of the new jersey for $100 at the sharks store today. The old ones are still on display, but they're $200! I think the new jerseys will eventually grow on you...just give it some time.
I think John Buccigross put it best on espn.com : 1. Every NHL player looks as if he is wearing a boy's medium T-shirt purchased at Express from the local mall instead of a NHL jersey. This is something one would expect a weightlifter from South Jersey to wear out to dinner with the Mrs. at Applebee's, not Andrew Cogliano at Joe Louis Arena.
2.Upon further review, the San Jose Sharks are wearing arguably the ugliest uniforms in any team sport in the history of team sports. When Art Howe was wearing a polyester Houston Astros uniform in the Astrodome circa 1981, maybe that was the worst; but that is hotly debatable because Howe was so hot in '81. When I see these Sharks uniforms on television, I think I'm watching a skit from "Full House" in which Joey Gladstone goes five-hole on a stumbling Uncle Jesse. These Sharks are so 1991, so "Yo! MTV Raps." "Everybody dance now!" These things need to be put into a dumpster, set on fire and rolled down a mountain as soon as possible. Then again, maybe that's why Jeremy Roenick is off to a good start. He thinks it's actually 1991.
I HATE the new jerseys. I love the fact that this team is build to last longer this year, but man are thos some ugly jerseys. The away looks worse than the home. Bring back the black alternative jersey and the version prior to this one and I'll be happy. The Sharks should've had a contest to choose the next design. Show 4 different styles and let the fans choose between the 4 new designs and the older one. That way it's a fan decision not an Organizational decision. Don't they want the fans to be happy? I agree, the new jerseys (sweaters) are pretty ugly. Firstly because of the Reebok slim taper design, and two..the orange! The shoulder patches should be the fin not just another Shark logo...and no orange. Then they'd be somewhat passable to me. Guess I'll wait 4 or 5 years until they redesign the jersey again before I'll buy another jersey.
I don't know what you all are talking about, these jersey's are the best I've seen in a long while. Accept for the black alternatives. The orange brings out the best in the jersey as well as on the shoulder having the entire shark body instead of just the fin.
