My husband is always picking on me because I have so much paper, embellishments, albums, stickers and I still will go to the store and have to buy more..... just so that I know I am not alone..... how many of you fellow scrapbookers are collectors too?
Not a collector but have lots of supplies. Working on a heritage album for my husband's uncle and aunt who lost everything in Hurricane Katrina. Found Mardi Gras pictures from the 1940's that I am including. My scrapbooking and scrapbook business takes up an entire bedroom and overflows into another.
Lol,when I opened my pottery shop up a few years ago,I added one room of scrapbooking things to sell.Well, the market got flooded and cheaper,so I closed that part of my shop down.I sold a few things, gave some to friends.but kept the bulk of it,lol.I like the idea that I can scrap anytime and know whatever is needed ,is here.Sort of like cooking, having all the ingredients at your fingertips, lol.I have so many papers, albums ,stickers, that if I lived to be 100,would never run out.Yet,I go buy more, new papers, more cute stickers, lol.I am an addict.
Hello to all:) I'm a seller...but a Collector as well..I've become addicted to buying Stickers and more..my husband also picks on me:) So...... nikkip7918... YOUR NOT ALONE...I love to buy Scrapbooking stuff..it doesn't matter if i need it or not:)
Every good or new idea requires some good or new paper and stickers to pull it off. It's really okay. Husbands just don't have anything else to do with their time so they pick on their lovely wives for attention. While I have never married, I just call it the way I see it. I have enough stuff to open my own store and everybody picks on me. I used to get my co-workers to put their craft store coupons in my inbox and I sort of collect the stuff that I want and need at bargain prices!
haha You are NOT alone. Men just don't understand, do they! haha I have supplies from years ago, that I have not looked at in years, but I just HAD to have them when I bought them. At least I know I have the proper supplies if I ever need them in the future. That way when I'm stuck in an "idea rutt" I can leaf through my supplies and it's that much easier to come up with an idea if I have an abundance of supplies.
Hello, You are not alone....I should start and then become a member of "SAOA" Scrap Addicts of America!! Myself, sister in law and a good friend of ours scrapbook every Thursday nite! We started our scrapping adventure on a fluke, i contacted a creative memories consultant to purchase an item for my sister and knowing I always had a desire to learn scrapbooking, Mentioned it to the consultant, who convinced me to host a class.
This mind you was less than a year ago. Our first purchase combined was well over 600.00 with creative memories.Keep in mind that was just for the 3 of us!!! While waiting for our new scrapbooking materials to arrive we stumbled upon the wonderful world of scrapbooking embellishments, paper, stamps, punches, tools etc at our local AC Moore & Michaels arts and crafts stores. Since our initial purchase we have accumulated an obscene amount of supplies!! We have the Cricut machine, Sizzix and the Big Kick, four different letter kits and numerous assorted dies. We visit new scrapooking stores every week and there isnt one day we come home empty handed!! My husband teases me as well but I tell him " at least my hobby is cheaper than yours!!" He collects die cast motorcycle replicas that retail for 75.00 a piece!!!
StinkyKenny I am just sitting here smirking from ear to ear because I know exactly what your saying. My mother, sister and I frequently go to weekend crops and we take a whole day before our trip to locate on the computer where all the area scrapbook shops are along our route. Very often we take the "long way" to get to our crops. Usually weekend crops don't start until 4 or 5 pm on Friday nights but yet we tell our husbands that we will be leaving around 8 am, of course just to hit the shops on the way :-)
I can relate to that! I recently visited my sister in NC. Before i left NY i googled all the scrapbook stores in her area, We dropped my 2 yr old niece off at the sitter and had the whole day to shop! She and I had such fun, It was a bit of sensory overload for her as she is starting to break out of her shell of using only white paper w/ minimal embellishments. She and I spent a small fortune but our 5 hours of scrapping made it worth while!! I actually bangd out 14 pages. I am in a great working groove when we are together. ENJOY- Dawn
I must admit, I'm one of them! Just can't seem to get enough! LOL! There's always something I buy ... 'cause I might use it someday for this or that project! LOL!
Oh do I relate to never having enough, LOL! I am really organized since I also sell Scrapbook supplies on Ebay but I can still sit down to scrapbook for myself and need something else to finish the layout or card. Sooooo.....I collect more and more when shopping both on and off Ebay. My husband looks at me funny but hey, he spends $20 a week on Smoking....I spend it on Scrapping (who is healthier, LOL).
Sign me up for SAOA (Scrapbooking Addicts of America)! I look at it this way. This is what I do. There are many other addictions and hobbies that are far more expensive than my 6 for $1.00 paper addiction & clearance priced scrapbooking items. Have I had to devote an entire studio to this addiction? Yes. Do I make big bucks selling on Ebay? Uhhhh not so much. Is it fun & rewarding & does it keep me busy and off the streets? LOL YOU BETCHA! So, there is my rational explanation. I don't smoke or chew or hang with those who do. But give me a fellow scrapbooker & we can chat for hours!!! And as Martha would say...IT'S A GOOD THING! Someday our families will appreciate the value of it all. Right? I am right...Right?
