I'm just a complete new diver. I'm 5'7 weight is about 170-180 lbs. I wear large clothing in shirts sould I try getting a xl diving suit? or should I try xxl. I'm a female also right now I feel like I'm having a blonde moment. I don't have anyone to ask. So maybe one of ya'll can tell me. I really hope someone can. What the diving place told me was to buy new, but shot I can't at this time. Like everyone else money is tight so whats wrong with used? Thanks to all that might answer or have a good laugh at me. Yeah I know I have to have a buddy to dive with welp right now I don't have anyone.
Check out some of the dive shops that sell online. They most often have a sizing chart for their gear. If you can't find a sizing chart with them, try going to the manufacturers website. I've found those helpful in determining my size. Plus I've found that wetsuits do run on the small side, but check the measurements charts to see where you would fit.
Try going to your local sporting goods store, I went to GI Joes and tried on both wet & dry suits for size range, then bought a nice used one when I found it in my size. If your ever in Oregon, look me up I'll be more than happy to go down on you....er..I mean with you!! Happy Diving
Each manufacturer's wetsuit is going to be a little different in a given size. The dimensions will not tell you the whole story. You may end up with air pockets in different places that will fill with water and be a problem. And comfort is everything, an ill fitting suit will be very bad. If it were me I would go to a few dive shops and try on the different suits, and write down notes on the manufacturer and the style and the size. When I found a comfortable one I would shop for that exact suit on the internet for the best deal. Good Luck
your answere is not all that simple. ask any woman what size she is and she will respondeither optimistically 2 sizes smaller than she is or if truthfull she must ask "which brand". so is the same for wet suits. go to the shops and find one that fits and lets you move naturally and then go to the manufacturer and find the different styles that usee the same sizing structure. when you find what you want go to ebay and get it much less than at the shop. nothing wrong with used stuff. are you a warm water or cold water diver? even if you dont hink you have a lot of need for warmth. a wet suit is chaff protection and positive bouyancy when needed.i never dive with out a wet suit. i use a 3/2 shorty over a skin and i am good for 7f5 and above without any fatigue. i like being warm. and diving with arm buddies. no pun intended. when one is cold the dive is bad for both.
My idea is to go to your local dive shop, look at their brands, try the suits on they have, then see if you can find the suit online cheaper... I know in Louisville we have about 5 or so dive shops for someone to try ...
Hello I work in a dive shop you can look on line at BARE to use a chart to fine your size by weight and hight they are the best fit i have never had to send one back. Also finding a buddy is never hard to do, but finding a good one is most important never guess allways know.
As others have posted, there is no answer to the question. Your body shape and the natural "curves" of a woman add up to many variables. You will need to try on different wet suits. Another and possibly better option is a dry suit. They are far more forgiving with size. If you are interested in a D.U.I. 50/50 that WILL fit your description well, and have no problem with a used but well kept suit, send me a note. Be aware though, diving with a dry suit is a different skill and you will have to get certified in the discipline.
I don't know if anyone has ever replied to your question, but I would recommend a xxl suit. Vintage wetsuits are out of the question, only because they tend to run smaller than today's style suits.
