I definitely recommend Salomon boots, too. When I needed boots last season, I tried about 10-12 pairs before I got to the Salomon boots, and both of their pairs fit SO much better than anything else. I got the Maori, for about $180. They're definitely worth the money, and I have about 55 days last year, and 40 days this year riding them (almost 100 days on snow in them) and they are still perfectly comfortable, unlike Burton's, which killed my heel after about 50 days. They aren't falling apart or anything, again unlike Burton's, where the toes fell apart. I couldn't be happier with Salomon boots.

Salomon Boots are good and Burton's are good, too. I've owned both. If you want a cheaper, more forgiving boot, the Burton Moto is a good way to go. They have a nice quick lacing system that is pretty sweet too. I own a lot of Burton stuff and haven't had a problem with quality. If something has been wrong, they are quick to fix it. Both Burton and Salomon make quality goods. I really suggest you try some on in a store and then find them online, since a lot of it is preference. You probably want a looser, ore forgiving boot since you are starting out.

northwave boots hands down. only boots on the market with a 360, 540, 720 degree heel hold. and i mean heel hold, your foot will not move in the boot. i've tried solomon and burton and neither compare. plus, northwaves are made in italy (not china like the other brands) so you know you're getting a quality product. check out northwave.it you can find these boots on ebay. they are the best hands down

i have worn burton and salamon over the years - both I have found to be good - the only low point of the burton as the imprint inner boot fails to regain its shape after a couple of seasons.

Just got into DC's - cant recommend enough if you can afford.

Boots are the essential snow board gear - dont be cheap and try them on before you buy - if there not right for you, you wont enjoy boardin.

forget salomon, burton, and northwave, thirty-two is the only way to go. They make the most sturdy, comfortable, durable, versatile boots you can get, especially if you're into freestyle riding. thirty-two.com

Hey I know Im reallly late on this topic, but.. I think Salomon boots suck. They hurt my feet for a whole season, me thinking I would just get used to it. Wrong! Well I love DC boots! You will need to get them probly half a size to one size bigger though, well atleast the older models. The newer ones I think they have might adjusted the size. Plus added bonus... They have some added traction to the bottoms so its easier to hike back up the mountain. They fall about in the range your looking for. My riding improved greatly since I bought a pair and no more stopping cause my feet hurt. Trust me.. They are the best boots ever, but if all else fails go Burton but they are more expensive.

The best way to get a feel for a boot is to go and try them on @ your local shop. Then if you have some free time you can do some research @ some of the companys websites. See what options are in your price range and then go try them on. You might want to consider what type of board you have as well. If you have a park or freestyle board you might want a softer boot that is forgiving and has lots of flex. If you have big mountain gun you might consider a stiffer boot to hold up in a hard turn. I could be wrong. Happy hunting!
