My wife and I live in Colorado at an elevation of 8,000 + ft. and we got our first heavy snow the other day. Had 2 and 3 ft. drifts everywhere and our ditches where full - (about 3 1\2 - 4 ft. deep) My first thought was to crack out the sleds and go rippin!!! I bought a brand new Yamaha APEX at the end of last season and the sled has 275 miles on it. My wifes sled - (Mountain Cat) new as well but not as new was going to be the sacrificial lamb. After a moments thought and the vision of my wife beating the crap out of me if I hurt her sled, I decided to crack out the manuals and re-familiarize myself with the pre-season proceedures on maintenance. I was amazed at the things I had forgotten and how important they are to your sleds survival season after season. Needless to say the sleds are now fully maintained have been started and adjusted, lubed etc...The work I did helped feed the sled bug but I'm sure that will be short lived. The main thing is I avoided a beating and any damage to the sled by waiting. Now they are both fully maintained and ready for when there is actually enough snow to play in!!! Have fun and think snow, get you machine ready, and DON'T BREAK YOUR WIFES SLED !!!
