Bad ebay purchase, what else can I do?

I recently piurchased a lot on ebay. The lot was composed of used stamps, the picture showed the stamps to be in blocks of 4. When I received the stamps they had been stuck together with cello tape to appear as blocks of four. I went through the ebay case review system and they replied in the sellers favour stating that the value of the stamps had not been reduced. I paid quite a bit for this lot and really feel like I was taken for a ride. What else can I do? Alan

Hello Alan....

If you paid by paypal, file a "significantly not as described" complaint and demand your money back.

Stamps having the appearence of blocks and blocks of stamps are definately NOT THE SAME and have COMPLETELY DIFFERENT VALUES.

I would also complain to whoever it was at ebay that claimed that the stamps had equal value......they obviously have no knowledge of how stamps are valued !!!!

Also....who was the seller ? Other collectors need to be warned.

I reported the problem to Paypal and they ruled in favour of the seller stating that the value of the stamps was not effected as a result of the scotch tape being applied too the stamps. Paypal obviously did no research into the matter and most certainly did not talk to anyone who new anythimng about the value of stamps. I would like to know what can be done when someone is obvioiusly defrauded and Paypal does nothing to remedy the situation. Thanks. I will report the name of the seller in my next statement.

Just unbelieveable......

To think that someone believes that tape does not alter value......absolute crap. Seems like you're just screwed this time. Not sure there's any recourse for you.

My jaw dropped on this one... in EVERY case where stamps and scotch tape are involved that I've encountered the stamps were trashed. Definately a SNAD and the seller is a crook. I hope this one works out in your favor.

A CROOK for sure. Would like to know who this seller is. Shows you how much Pay-Pal cares.

guarantee that us collectors want to know who this seller is! this practice is clearly FRUADULANT !!! and will NOT be tolerated!! please at least identify the seller.who is it? provide seller ID? there is a way to BLOCK sellers like this.

I can't believe a legitimate dealer would do this to you. Check the return policy and send this item back for a refund saying the description was incorrect. These were not blocks of four. They must have original connections to be able to say that.

Please publish the name of the vendor!! He needs to be blackballed, plus those of us who collect stamps should ALL complain to Ebay and educate the misinformed about the value of stamps.

Everyone out there has had distasteful experiences from time to time I learned you have to read the posting carefully there is a lot of dl's that post a description that can be interpreted a few ways That leave them a way out whatever the issue is I went radical on the seller I got his AOL name and put him on my buddy list every time he logged on I sent an instant message with my problem also not many people realize 90 % of the pay pal users list their home # I also started to call Finally he gave in and sent good replacements plus extras Not to say this was the right or wrong way to go but it worked for me

On the type problem you describe, I found PayPal to be basically useless for resolution. I had a similiar problem and received similar response from PayPal. As a result, I use PayPal system, but I place the purchase on my major credit card. If the item is damaged, not as described, etc. I file a complaint with PayPal and also with my charge card agency. They place the entire amount into a hold status and when resolved by them, remove the money from PayPal. I then let PayPal do whatever they do with the seller.

I had a similar situation when buying an item from ebay. The package was sent to the wrong address, after trying to track it down, I found out it was shipped back to the seller. I filed a complaint with Paypal and was told I had to track down the problem with Fedex which could take as long as 30 days which is beyond the time that Paypal would honor the complaint. So I eat the lost about $50 and advise everyone I know not to use Paypal.

Please, post the Auction Item Number so that this dealer's name be known. To tape 4 stamps to create a block is plain forgery. Give him a negative feedback if you cannot get a full refund. These stamps are worthless.
