A few years ago my father gave me this old tin box of stamps he had collected over the years and he recently asked me to try my luck on ebay. I have no clue as to where to begin. I would like to sell them all and there are over 800 stamps in this box from all over the world, most of them are extremely old. I am needing to find out how much they are worth and I've been seeing a lot about how to grade them. If anyone is looking for a stamp in particular please show me a picture and i can look and see if I have it. I have been trying to organize these stamps for about a week now and I'm still getting stuck other than used and unused..lol. Please helpme get rid of my stamps!!!

The stamps that you would do well to look into would be all United States stamps, the reason being that those stamps sell well in America. Those are also the stamps that, as you were talking about, can be graded.
The name of the grading service that I can refer you to is called P.S.E. or Professional Stamp Experts and they grade those really old, really rare, early U.S. stamps you might have. Also, there is always a stamp I am looking for, and I don't know if you have them, but any stamps that have Zeppelins on them.

I ALSO WAS LEFT BOOKS AND BOXES OF STAMPS. I HAVE TRIED SELLING ON EBAY BUT WHAT I GET FOR THEM IS NOT A FRACTION THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE WORTH. I HAVE LOOKING THEM UP ON SCOTTS, AND START MY BIDDING AT .99 AND NEVER GET MORE THAT A FEW DOLLARS FOR EACH STAMP. WHERE CAN I GO AND HAVE SOMEONE LOOK AT THIS COLLECTION AND EITHER HELP LIST AND I WOULD GIVE A COMMISSION, ON SELL THE COMPLETE BOOKS FOR A GOOD PRICE.

You can get a catalog for pricing stamps at the library. Your best bet is to go to a stamp shop and show them what you have. There are not many left and you may not have one in your area. I have collected and sold stamps for over 40 years. 98% of the time when I hear a story like yours it is common material and worth a few bucks at best. A dealer can tell in minutes if you have anything beyond common stamps. If you want to send a few scans I can take a look.
