I've found that my favorite series to watch overall was TNG, but for exciting books my favorite to read about is the Voyager series although they are harder to find. TNG is my 2nd favorite, though DS9 was my least, yet I do enjoy reading or watching about them if I can. One of my favorrite characters was Worf, so it was nice to see someone move from series to the series.
I am an old-school guy so I love watching the original series. As for the books, I really loved the DS9 ones that took place after the series ended. I also love Worf. His life, from TNG to DS9 to the movies, is like an epic tale.
For watching, Voyager is definitely my favorite. Then TNG, then TOS, then DS9, and if I have to list it, ENT. My favorite character is Q, so go figure.
For reading, I have to say Voyager, although for some reason, I dislike reading Trek novels. Don't know why, I just don't.
old school you say. then original - shat rules! kirk, mccoy, scotty & spock are the best team of actors -expecially with the lack of special effects. the idea was to have a western in space - this was achieved very effectively. just dont wear a red shirt .... or you run the risk of ceasing to exist before the end of the episode !
star trek tng. they had a great cast. I'm not a big trekker. I enjoy TNG and ds9 early on, watched the movies. even have a Q action figure. but rarely read the books (although peter david is a heck of a writer) I will go see the new movie, but not opening night.
TOS for sure. It seemed to be very creative and original for its time and still has great plot. Not to mention Kirk and Spock, who are really a face for all Star Trek shows to come. TNG is a close second, with VOY after that. I haven't watched much DS9 or ENT, though.
