This is not exactly Star Wars related, but it is shipping related. I went to mail a package today, had to reopen it at the post office, and they wouldn't give me a couple of pieces of tape to reseal it! They said I would have to buy their tape or go back home. Well a tiny roll of "their" tape is like $3.00. I have five rolls at home, so I went back home. Are they on the verge of bankrupcy or something, every time I try to ship something there's some new fee or surcharge. Ridiculous I tell you! Where is my hard earned tax money going? ;)
I think they are going postal! The tape has not been free for a long time unless you use USPS priority which is at least $10 more. Yes, they still offer free shipping supplies, but only USPS priority etc. and price went up on all those. Also lines are longer because so many people get in line but don't speak English and don't have package ready for shipping. As far as them demanding package to be opened, it's for security reasons. Only one employee has been nice to me in the last few weeks and I had to ask her to please postmark my already postage paid items, so my clients know when they got mailed.
I have sold a few thing's, and am thinking of actually selling full force. I was all excited,jumping up & down I sold an item for 20.51. Flew to P.O. same day paid as want to keep my 100% feedback going and it cost 10.50 to send..crapola!! and the guy said flat rate would have been more expensive..it WAS 8.00 when did it go up to 10.00?? With these price's..they are not going broke..WE are..My dumb butt did pay 2.99 there for a box..lesson learned. oh well..
Five Las Vegas post offices are part of a nationwide study to gauge whether they should be closed as mail volume slows and revenue declines. This is getting scary, the one I go to is on that list. This will definitely affect shipping eBay items. How can they have declining revenue when shipping & postage prices just increased?
Post Office does not recieve TAX $$$ it is a private business run by Gov.(CONGRESS) people most of you probably voted for! They are allowed to raise prices to compete with UPS & FED-X based on the pricing index......still cheaper than UPS even if parcel post takes longer. Both UPS and Fed-Ex use the post office to ship through them on certain packages because it's cheaper than trying themselves to deliver. The post office is trying to stop a bill that requires USPS to pay 5 yrs. in advance for retirees' benifits...what business wouldn't be in the RED with those requirments! Regarding taping for boxes ...you need to declare what's in the packages & have them properly labeled. Ever hear of 911?...anthrax scare etc.. Besides I heard horror stories about UPs..my friend worked there for over two years. He told me many time how they had threw around packages or they dropped and you could hear them break! This was a regular occurance!
I think it's funny how they want $10 to $20 for a Flat Rate shipping box and still charge you shipping... Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that's a false ad they have on T.V saying you can ship for one low price...
According to my math that's more then buying a box for $2.00 at Office Depot or Walmart and paying $8.00 for shipping which to me is cheaper... RIGHT?
The thing is when you ask these people at the Post Office they always have an answer to make you feel like you have no education... Let's see with all these companies going bankrupt... I think it's time for them to go back to school and learn the customer is always right and basic math skills...
If any company does not know these 2 things then they will never make profits or keep customers happy...
A message for any Mail Service out there... Stop sending Junk Mail so maybe you won't need to raise your shipping rates!!! Make sense right?!
And for the Companies that send Junk Mail... Please do something else with your profits instead of wasting fuel and time... Give your money to your workers or save enough money to stay away from being Bankrupt!!!
