I have been collecting and reading a lot of SK short stories lately. Just curious what everyone else thinks might be his best? My personal favorite has to be The Jaunt.

Anyone else's thoughts?

Thought no one was going to say "dolan's cadillac"...love that one so much!

Mrs Todd's Shortcut, Apt Pupil, The Jaunt, omg we've only just begun....

I am terrible at names, (OLD) need to look some up but those are right there, tip o da tongue, favs always... I think "Dolan's Cad" would be a great flick and it almost never made it because King admits he hated when he realized he had to go to his bro for the equation on the digging but thank GOD his brother helped him because this is one of his best in my opinion. If you haven't read it, please do....I will never forget it and like I said, I'm old....this is so fun guys, I'm giddy I found it. Talking about King's work is almost as fun as cracking a new story open!

Survivor Type for Short stories, The Mist for Novellas. New here, picked up a Cosmo at age 13 & read an excerpt of Salem's Lot...now at 46 am still hooked on King!! Reading these posts, I think I'll drag out night Shift and re-read it...it's been awhile!

IS EVERYONE ELSE HERE AS SICK OF THESE STUPID ADVERTISEMENTS AS I AM?

People who pretend to like Stephen King just to get free ad space?

Please, report these topics so ebay will not only remove them, but so they will get the message that we are not interested. Bump the real topics up to the top by just replying to a relevant discussion or just writing "bump" on your post.

I'm fine with advertisements of King-related stuff, but 9 out of ten of those on here have NOTHING to do with King - I've checked them all! Report these and help get them removed!

SK has written so many wonderful short stories, it almost pains me to limit my favorites to just one. With that said, my favorites include The Mist (hated the way the movie ended); The Jaunt; and Quitters, Inc.

Quitters scared me so much that I avoid all organized health/fitness companies. Could you imagine those kinds of methods employed by Jennie Craig?

I just thought of another one - The Library Police. That was a great story!

Hi. I have been an Uncle Steve fan since I was 9 years old, and I had to fight with my mom for the right to read 'Salem's Lot. It scared the bejesus out of me, but I've never looked back.

Steve's best short stories--or at least the ones that touched me in that deep, disturbing, tingly place that I think most horror novel afficianados have--are as follows (in no particular order).

--'N' (hands down the creepiest story of SK's massive body of work)
--Gramma
--1408
--Rainy Season
--You Know They've Got A Helluva Band
--Crouch End
--10 O'Clock People
--The Raft
--The Mangler
--The Boogeyman
--Children of the Corn

...and

--The Mist (which I guess is technically a novella, but it ranks not only with my favorite SK short stories, but with his best overall work. In fact it ranks only behind The Dark Tower novels, The Stand and Duma Key as my favorite work by him.

There are several 10 O'clock people, The Raft, The Fog, Chattery Teeth, The Crate, Library Police, Crouch End, and theres a couple that I cannot remember the names of, one was about a house that lifted off, and one about a camera that took strange pictures. Also 1408, and The Rainy Season. All of these stories are very good. I thought 1408 the movie was pretty good too! One other thing , did anyone think of a certain SK story when that strange oil like slick was floating by Alaska this past summer?? It wasn't oil either it was biological. The first thing that popped into my head was SK's story. I also mentioned this to my husband, and he agreed!!
