Hi to all you book lovers! To the sellers who don't ship in a box: It really ruins the books when you ship in a bubbled mailed or just plain envelope. Books need to be shipped in a box with the proper padding so the book cannot move around during transition. We collectors don't want bumped corners or a tear in the dj unless we knew that's what we were buying to start with! If you only knew how many people don't buy from you a second time because you don't read our notes. Rather than leave negative feed back we just don't buy from you again!!
Useful Funny
I personally have never had this problem. Lucky I guess. But I would like to suggest that you leave feedback. No one can fix a problem if you dont take a couple of seconds to tell them whats wrong.

I leave generic feed back or none at all & then email the seller personaly to let them know! The Post Office or UPS are not kind to the mail & it will only get worse during the Holidays!! The feed back forum has it's flaws too & I've only used negative for a non paying bidder a very few times. I don't think it is a place to air a persons dirty laundry so to speak.... The top sellers would never consider shipping in anything other than a box! :)

Hello, I have had more than 600 internet book sales, with no damage. I use a poly bubble mailer, but I place all books with dust jackets in a plastic bag that protects it from movement, and then it goes into the mailer. Books without dust jackets are wrapped in blank newsprint paper and then placed into the mailer, this provides excellent protection for the book.as a plus the maliel can be folded and taped to fit the book inside. P.S. I have never seen a poly mailer crushed, but the same cannot be said for the boxes, I recieved one that had one corner crushed and torn. no method is infalable given the violance that postal employees use to accomplish their goals, but I prefer my method to yours.Regards suzanne

I realize how the Post Office treats mail! However I have recieved many ruined books with the method you prefer. I sent a book to Australia & it was misdelivered & showed back to our house 6 months later, yes the box was a little crushed but because of the reinforcement I use inside the box, peanuts, styryofoam, lot's of bubblewrap & even a comic board or similar on bottom & top of the box so you can't accidently cut the book the book when you open the box & my book sent to Australia survived all this across the oceans in exactly the condition it was sent in! I still stand by my method as I love my books! I'll spend the extra money to ensure they arrive in the condition that they were listed in. My feedback speaks for itself! J

I have to agree with weathervane on this one, I am always very dissappointed when a book I ordered shows up in an envelope of any sort, its just not enough protection. I always ship in boxes. By the way, I have purchased from weathervane before and loved the packaging!

Thank you for agreeing! Somebody who appreciates & loves books & knows how to care for them. I was taking a beating there for awhile! I was hoping a top seller would jump in! :) The extra dollar I spend to show you what you are getting in the photo area & the bit extra in packing materials to make sure the books are as described & packed PROPERLY are worth my peace of mind. Alot of my books end back on Ebay because the seller mislead in the description or shipped improperly. I don't make much but enough to update my personal collection & I give alot away that aren't worth relisting! Finally somebody gets it!! Thanks for the compliment! Mrs. R

Hi Weathervane
I agree in principal with your preference for boxed delivery. However not all my books fetch top prices sometimes a book will go for just £5 or £6 making the cost of boxing and packaging prohibitive. If the sale is relatively cheap the p&p can outway the value of the book. Would you still ship boxed?

Hi Chershaun; I start my listings at the lowest price I would be willing to take & most of the time only make a couple of bucks if I'm lucky, just enough to update my personal collection once in awhile. Boxes can be found free every where you shop! My hubby laughs because I'm always looking for boxes to ship in. You can also buy shipping boxes on Ebay for about a dollar each which can be put in the shipping costs. Most people don't mind paying an extra dollar if they know the book will be shipped in a box. The padded envelopes cost at least 50 cents & doesn't protect the book. Also people don't mind if you reuse boxes as long as their book is protected. Actually I don't even make money on shipping & if I overestimate then I issue a refund. The buyer should'nt have to pay the sellers Ebay, Paypal fees. We should all just have fun & always ship in a BOX! :):)

Hi again Weathervane
I can see i am going to have to start rooting boxes out on my journeys to the supermarket etc I actually quite often make a loss on p&p but your point on free boxes available wherever is an excellent one. You have your self a convert. Thank-you

Hi Chershaun; Cool! Your buyers will be much happier & return more often. I even state in my listings that I pack in a box & that also seems to bring people back especially after they've gotten their 1st book/books! Cheers to you! :)

weathervane, I have to agree with you about shipping in boxes. I adore books and whether it's used or not, I want my book to arrive without the slightest ding in it. If someone decides to handle things roughly, the contents of a box will fare better than those in an envelope most of the time.

Yesterday I had to ship Dark Tower V and found that I had run out of new boxes. Hubby kept saying, "Just wrap it. It will be fine." I like to ship immediately upon receipt of payment so I wrapped it up in several layers of brown paper and labeled it, but then I couldn't stop glancing at it and wincing. Finally I rummaged through the basement and found an old grungy box to ship it in. I figured that was better than nothing. I couldn't let it go out the door unprotected. You'd think it was my kid or something. lol

I hadn't thought of mentioning boxes in my book auctions. Good idea. Thanks!
