Botched Stories

So all SK fans know almost everyone of his stories that goes to the big screen gets botch and cut to you know what. My question is what movie totally disgusted you. By this I mean because it was cut so bad it had no business having the SK name attached to it.

The movie that did it for me was Needful things. The book was great but the movie was just sad
Useful Funny
Lawn Mower Man (a bad short story, made into a pointless and unrelated movie...and sequel)

The Running Man (a book I really liked, completely destroyed with a terrible ending, and nothing at all like the book)

Golden Years (boring)

Maximum Overdrive (again, a good story with a good ending, that was made too long)

Dreamcatcher (though the book wasn't any better)

I also didn't care for The Mist. I enjoyed how the original story had no certain ending; in fact, that is one of the reasons that I like SK, that he leaves it up to the reader. Also, the story let your imagination decide what was in the mist, not showing hokey special effects that looked like they could have been made 10 years ago.

Finally, the ending of The Mist just bothered me too much to like it. I don't normally care much for happy endings, but this one was just too desparaging for me. Perhaps it was just thinking about my own child, or maybe that the whole movie had been about this guy and kid doing whatever they can to keep hope alive, to keep going...and then it is all ended.

Without a doubt, the dumbest TV adaptation of any book or story that I've ever seen was "The Langoliers". There was no motivation or meaning to any of it. I was so annoyed with the total lack of plot that it STILL annoys me.
What the heck is a Langolier? And Why was it coming? There was no clue in the TV show!

Hi;

The Langolier was a scary like boogey man as told to the weirdo by his father as a child.

I love The Langoliers & have watched it many times over.

I have to agree with The Lawn Mower Man as one of the worst I've seen.

I still love The Stand as the best movie ever!!!

first,i never could get into the stand;movie version or book..(i suppose it just didn't have the scare or "other worldliness" i enjoy) second, i agree with needful things..it is one of my fave books, but the movie sucked and they only used what,3% of the book? third,i know sk wasn't happy with the original shining and remade it,but i absolutely did not like then new one he did....jack nicholson beats out steven weber anyday!!! and fourth, the running man and the langoliers....booo

I would definitely have to agree with The Running Man. I love that Book!!! But the movie is so retarded. I wish they would remake the movie to what it should be.

With the exception of Christine, I always enjoy the book more than the movie when it comes to SK. I'd have to say the worst movies were The Mist and Lawnmower Man though.

I have heard that a new The Running Man is being worked on. Check on Wikipedia, and you'll find a long list of film projects - some remakes (like It), some brand new, and a whole bunch that should not even be attempted.

Needful Things, Langoliers, Silver Bullet, Desperation, for starters. The books were much better, they always are. I hate the way movies chop up the whole story, and add their own scenes to the story. They seem to think that adding their own scenes makes it better, but it usually ruins it, for me at least.
