What is your LEAST favorite SK novel?

I know this will stir some people up, but I know all of you have some stories or novels that just didn't appeal to you. What Stephen King stories have you read that just left you thinking, "man, did he really write this garbage?" Of course, this is all just opinion, so please explain why you don't like something.

I really did not like The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon, Dreamcatcher, and From a Buick 8. None of these books ever sat right with me, and I regretted losing the time spent reading them.

Perhaps it was the lack of supernatural in Tom Gordon, but I was very disappointed with the ending.

In Dreamcatcher, everything seemed implausible, even for a Stephen King novel - and nothing flowed well - it seemed choppy.

Finally, From a Buick 8 just didn't make sense, and no questions were ever answered.

i too would have to agree with the girl who loved tom gordon...gerald's game and bag of bones i didn't much care for either, but of course,i still love all his books! anyone read his mystery novel colorado kid? pretty good for that genre...and i just got done reading duma key and i loved it! lisey's story was pretty good as well, but i haven't finished cell. oh yeah,i thought black house was a little disappointing.

I would also have to say The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon....It took me forever to read...I couldnt get into it. I am surprised nobody has said "Hearts in Atlantis" I thought the first half was great but cant figure out where he was going with the second half

I'm going to have to agree with Gerald's Game - it was so forgettable, that I completely forgot to mention it. I'm working on buying all of King's works, but I refuse to spend money on that book.

You know, Hearts in Atlantis wasn't my favorite story either. The only reason I like it is because of its strong ties to the Dark Tower. If not for that, it wouldn't be anything special - and since the movie didn't go into that, of course, it wasn't much good, either.

Have you read any Dark Tower books recently (like after his accident)? I'd suggest going back and reading a revised copy of The Gunslinger. The new revisions make it flow better, and fit with other stories more. I won't say that every SK fan should love the Dark Tower series, but it really does tie together his whole universe - check my guide for more information if you'd like to know more.

I know that the series is different from his other books, but I view that as just being evidence of his great talent. However, if you don't like the series, definitely don't read the last book. Even I was disappointed with how it ended (though I agree that it was probably the only way to do it).

I would have to say Lisey's story was extremely disappointing. I was thinking "did he write this just because he had to get a book out on a deadline?" from a buick 8... well its not a bad story, but it could have been a lot shorter. I got bored before I got interested. sorry stephen.

Another vote for The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon. Followed by "Gerald's Game".

Love him but these were not his best work by far.

Will also say some of his Bachman books were 10x better. Loved "Thinner" (I know others do not) and wish both of the above titles weren't in his name so I could pretend they weren't his :) hehehee

IS EVERYONE ELSE HERE AS SICK OF THESE STUPID ADVERTISEMENTS AS I AM?

People who pretend to like Stephen King just to get free ad space?

Please, report these topics so ebay will not only remove them, but so they will get the message that we are not interested. Bump the real topics up to the top by just replying to a relevant discussion or just writing "bump" on your post.

I'm fine with advertisements of King-related stuff, but 9 out of ten of those on here have NOTHING to do with King - I've checked them all! Report these and help get them removed!

I will say first, I love Stephen King books, but your right, From a Buick 8, ugh. I would also say Cell is not really that good. I just finished Hearts in Atlantis and I loved the first part but then it got crazy till the very last chapter.

Although I would rather read a "bad" SK book than a "good" book by anyone else, I would have to agree that The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon was bad. I wasn't able to finish it, and I'll read anything. Gerald's Game was okay. Hearts In Atlantis was really slow, as was Lisey's Story. I am currently re-reading The Talisman (for about the 15th time).

I didn't care much for Lisey's Story. I would have to reread Gerald's Game, and Tom Gordon, before making a decision about them. Bag of Bones is okay, after reading it for the second time. Haven't read Hearts of Atlantis yet, but it didn't seem to appeal to me.
