I'll go first :) The Stand. No. Scratch That. It's the Long Walk.
OK I can never decide which of the 2 I like better :)
What is your favorite Stephen King book?
Useful Funny
I can't decide between The Stand or The Dark Tower series. The Stand the movie is my favorite & I could watch it over & over again! :) I waited for years for The Stand to be made into a movie & several more years for him to finish The Dark Tower series! :)

I did too! I have the Stand on tape and every May I make my Hub watch it with me. It came out in May :)
I've never read the Dark Towers series. I think that is the only one I ever missed! I should pick that up!

My hub likes The Shawshank Redemption but is not really a SK fan but he will take me to the movies when one comes out & I go with him of course when something comes out that he likes.

The Dark Tower series are what SK is all about & probably his most popular & famous writings. He always manages to have that Dark man in there somewhere in most of his books. I've been hooked on him for 30 plus years .

I think my favorite was Insomnia, and I was like an insomniac while reading this book, I just couldn't put it down! And of course the Dark Tower series.

Ok-Obviously, I had better start my dark tower reading! :)
I started Insomnia but that guy had me a nervous wreck! Getting up earlier and earlier. Taking walks to tire himself out. I thought "I'll never sleep again!":O)
Off topic but did anyone read the Ruins by Scott Smith? I can bring back on topic a bit. It was on Stephen King's 2006 top 10.

Gerald's Game is my favorite. Everybody I told about this book said "this is truly nasty / growse / bad!" sort of thing so I felt a bit alienated. Finally I managed to talk one of my young cousins into reading Misery and ended up feeling good about having a hopefully King fan wannabe family member.

I'm a big movie fan SALEM'S LOT IS my fave it inspired me to do BARLOW. CHECK IT OUT! (THE original with James Mason, David Soul, Bonnie Bedelia, Lance Kerwin, etc.) My favorite King book is a printing of "Cycle of the Werewolf" that was illustrated by Bernie Wrightson.(Barlow is my 1st item)

The Dark Tower Series is my favorite but that is not a book, single book would have to be The Stand closely followed by It. My favorite short story is The Mist and my favorite story as Bauchman is The Long Walk. I have read just about everything he has ever written and loved all of it.

I've got to go with Insomnia also. At least as far as his "horror" books. Hated to have the book end. I actually prefer audiobooks and Insomnia was read by Eli Wallach. Otherwise, Shawshank, Green Mile were great stories.

There's a printing of the short story "Cycle of the Werewolf" that is illustrated by Bernie Wrightson! AWESOME my personal favorite! (It's it's own book) PS I think this is a good discussion.

Bag of Bones, I have a feeling he was telling his own story or at least one of his experiences while driving on those long trips to Florida

That's easy for me. Although the Stand was great.. The Dark Tower Series is a stunning body of work. All I have left are books six and seven. They will be savored.

So hard to decide!! But the one I keep coming back to as the most stunning and memorable (like I can really forget anything Stephen King) is the Dark Tower series. I've made believers and converts of non believers with this amazing set of books. I SO want more!!!!!

For me it`s a close run thing but my favourite King book is a Bachman book, and no it is not The Long Walk, most people think I`m nuts but I love Roadwork. Wonderful, searing writing, Bart Dawes visibly comes unstrung, page by agonising page. I really do not believe I have ever empathized so completely with a fictional character. Also check out the characters Harold Lauder (The Stand) and Roland Lebay (Christine).
