Come on guys - this is a board for the greatest writer of our age...can't we come up with something to discuss? We were having some great discussions on here a couple months ago..and now, the only people who are adding topics are people trying to sell their non-related junk! What do you like? What do you not like? What are Stephen King fans like? It has been so long since anyone even commented on a real post, that this board is basically dead. Why don't we start with a new introduction - I'll start it out on a new post.

Even though Stephen King is not a great writer, (and he'll even admit that) he managed to be the first to tap into the fears of everybody. I prefer his earlier works, when he had that scare the hell out of you nightmare that he was able to make real. IT is my personal favorite. Lately, he seems to have indulged in more psychological horror, which to me isn't as scary as Jack Torrance (or Nicholson, same difference) chasing after you with an axe, or seeing Pennywise face-to-face. For Stephen King collecters, I have a cassette of Bag of Bones read by the Master of the Macabre himself, or one called Blood and Smoke, which comes in a cigarette-type flip-top box. Has anybody ever heard of this as a short story, or novelette? If anyone is interested, let me know because I plan on selling them. Until then, avoid clowns in storm drains and 1958 Chryslers called Christine.

I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree on King being a great writer. I could certainly agree that as a whole, his earlier works are quite a bit better than his most recent works (especially after the accident). Anyway, good luck on your sales - those sound like cool collector's items - I'd definitely be interested if I had a cassette player still...but record players seem more popular these days.

I'll discuss, I think SK is a very good writer. I enjoy his books very much! Sometimes I have trouble following him or the story. Maybe I don't understand the character or his plot, but I try. I've had trouble with Lisey's Story, The Gunslinger books, and used to have a problem with Desperation, Regulators until I read them the 3rd. time. It was then I realized that certain characters appeared in several stories. Even Flagg! He's a busy thing! So is Leland Gaunt! They are as creepy as It!! Another piece of work!
