I want to thank everyone in the eBay community for your help and support
I certainly appreciate all you contributed in making my eBay store a success. (wjandystools)
My business has grown, I have a number of repeat customers both in the US and International.
My feedback, is still 100% Positive.
I have a great monthly newsletter and that’s growing.

BUT

I’m thinking of closing the store.

When eBay first announced their rate and fee changes and this new rating system for buyers input, things have taken a turn for the worse. My feedback is still 100% positive, but the 4 guidelines reflect a different picture.
My items described line has gone from 5 to 4.8
Communication is still 5
Shipping Time 5-4.8
Shipping and Handling Charges from 5-4.4
This means that later number has put me below the line and thus not eligible for the discount fees for sellers.

I communicated with eBay, but was told the input from buyers was not available to me and my best solution was to email my customers to see where the problem is. It would be nice if I knew which ones to email wouldn’t it?

I am becoming highly suspicious of eBay skewing the score and possibly someone trying to sabotage my ratings.

I think what upsets me the most is being accused of something, and not knowing who the accuser or the problem is.
How can one correct a problem if one doesn’t know what it is?

As to the item described. Everything is copied directly from the manufacturer’s site.
Communications is good, (I think) because I send a tracking number for every item shipped and answer all inquiries and emails.
As to shipping time, I’m hostage to the carriers.
The S&H Charges is something I have no control over. I use the eBay furnished shipping calculator and advise all International customers before hand, what the charges are.

I’m certainly open to suggestions, but what I’m thinking of doing is marketing through another direction.

My idea is to use all of email addresses I’ve collected, advise these people of the move and without having to deal with eBay fees can promote the store as lower than eBay store prices. I’ve checked with a number of items and with a profitable mark-up, can still beat most of the items in any eBay Tool Store and not have to deal with eBay’s capricious, arrogant attitude toward sellers.

There are a number of ways I can promote the website, but I’ll deal with these later.

There's a sellers discussion board where people are complaining about the same things but I really don't think it's ebay. We have a physical business and we're getting flack from customers about shipping time and charges and there is just nothing we can do. As for item description being copied from the mfg site well, those descriptions are great "if" the buyer is familiar with the product but suppose the person buying isn't familiar with it, say a wife buying for hubby for instance. She may still not be sure that what's she's chosen is right just from mfg description. I'm not defending ebay's policy but I think partly it was designed to stop sellers from ripping people off on shipping charges. I saw an item I was going to bid on last month till I noticed the shipping on a 3 pound item was $36.00. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
