Ryobi reciprocating saw problems

Has anyone else had any problems with Ryobi 18 volt reciprocating saws? I have had two go bad on me. I thought it was the switches going out, so I replaced the switch. It worked better for awhile, them started dying in the middle of sawing again. Is this a common problem. Can you recommend a better saw, one that can take a lot of use?

It more than likely wouldn't have been your switch. The best one on the market is made by Milwaukee although DeWalt is rapidly closing the gap. We have been repairing tools for 35 years and are factory authorized on all of these and many more.

Spend the money and get a Milwaukee (with the Lithuim-Ion battery). You won't be disappointed.

I have had my Ryobi 18V recip saw for about 5 years. It has worked great and has taken more abuse than I can remember. It has survived many drops (even from several roofs). The only problem I have experienced is the blade will sometimes come out of the blade holder. I have found this to be a problem with Vermont brand blades. Others work great. The batteries seem to be the weakest point of this tool line but they are some of the least expensive to replace. In the same time I have had this saw, I have killed 1 Makita and 1 Dewalt corded saws. I do agree with the talk of the Milwaukee as I also have one of them in the 24 volt. The only drawback is it is slighlty heavier than the Ryobi.
