What's your fuel economy??

Before converting my Toyota Prius to PHEV (plug-in-electric-vehicle) in my daily 38 Miles round trip I used to make an average of 48 MPG in side roads and Hwy mixing driving.
After the conversion, in the same route I jumped to a fuel economy of 88 MPG with an averaged electrical recharge cost of $.85 cents a day.
I know that this numbers sound extremely high but this is the satisfaction of driving now an almost electric car with the advantage on having an ICE ( Internal Combustion Engine) as a back-up source for power in case of necessity, tanks to the generosity of Toyota Motor Co. when I bought the car.
So, lets start a comment page about yours and others and everyones fuel economy, what can we do to improve it and share the information with others. Lets start learning tips and tricks to start minimizing oil dependency from sandy eastern soils.

I have had my prius for about 3 months now and love it. I have cut my fuel bill litterly in half from what I was paying just to travel 30 miles to work and 30 back home. Sadly a large amount of my driving is e-way, and as we all know going 80 in a prius dosn't really do much for MPG. I have found myself taking a little longer going home just to drive the 65MPH that helps the MPG a lot. In trade, I have found myself enjoying driving agian. I can fill up (if on Empty) for $28.00usd and it used to cost 40-50usd in my grand prix. One disterbing thing i found is i'm 33 years old and I think i'm the youngest owner of a prius, Why is that? I'm not a tree hugger, in fact I save lifes for a living (EMS) so why isn't the car more appling to the younger group?

I have a 2001 Prius and am interested in your conversion to PHEV. I don't believe that my 2001 can be converted though, is that correct? My average MPG is around 45 because I do little freeway driving.

From what I understand you can not currently convert 2001 - 2004 Toyota Prius cars. I'm not 100% sure but I think it voids a good part of the warranty. I have a used 2002 and get about 42- 44 mpg. This is a lot better then my old Land rover at about 10 - 12 mpg.
We need more cars like the Prius.

Hello all!

I own a 2007 prius and currently have a 49.9 lifetime MPG for the vehicle. It has just a tad over 15,000 miles; I have used approximately 300 gallons of fuel in the last 15 months. Would love to do a PHEV conversion and double my MPG. Also, there is a chance that I'll be selling my vehicle here on Ebay because I heard these Priuses have actually appreciate in value (as opposed to going down in value)... I'm more interested in buying real estate.
ps. I use the "pulse and glide" technique to maximize mileage.
