In 1957 I visited New Zealand on a two day over night from Canberra Australia where I was on a military operation. I must say it was most beautiful and the folks were of the best in the world. If I remember correctly the outlying areas of the island had sheep herds all over the place. I was told some years later there were more sheep in New Zealand then there were people. .In the mid-80s I found a pen pal to communicate with however it all ended when she passed away in the mid-90s. I can remember one evening the stars were as big as basketballs and the Southern Cross was a wonderful sight. If you ever get back to the Far East take a side trip to the island of Okinawa, the “Keystone of the Pacific,” much beauty also resides on that bit of rock.
