Hi there, I love the fact that there now is a U2 neighborhood on eBay. And I'd be curious to know what all of you think the best song ever of U2 is... I have one in mind but I'll save that for a later post...
I think it's too hard to say, really depends on my mood, so it changes all the time. I presently love Kite, but have also been listening to Zooropa quite a lot lately.
Thanks for getting the ball rolling, but how could you ever pick a favorite?! They have so many great songs for every different occasion.
That being said, I will throw out a few that have really meant alot to me: Please, Streets, One, Bad.
Right now, I can't get enough of Saints w/ Green Day. It is such a treat to hear U2 really rock out and to have two great bands together they "elevate" each other to a whole new level.
For this past summer / autumn it seems i always find myself listening to Flower Child. I really like Kite live from Sydney, Slane, Boston in that order
If you don't already have the single version of Please, I highly recommend downloading the MP3 of the B-side to that single (US version, I think). It has a live version of Streets from the PopMart tour recorded live in Rotterdam. It is 6:32 and every second is Gold. Toward the end Edge has a nice long solo and they go into a little bit or The Playboy Mansion, but like you've never heard it before.
U2 singing "Where The Streets Have No Name" during halftime of the Super Bowl - and as a tribute to those who lost their lives in 9/11 - gives me goosebumps even to this day. Without question, one of the greatest "live" bands ever. I cannot think of any other band that captures the moment quite like U2 or can put so much emotion into music......absolutely amazing! THE band of our generation!
Bad - the version off the DVD Rattle & Hum Soundtrack Where the Streets Have No Name Out of Control off the U2 Go Home DVD (Slane Castle) Kite off the U2 Go Home DVD
Where the Streets Have No Name from the 4th row at the Richfield, OH Coliseum in 1991(?)
My personal favorite is "until the end of the world". The line "In my dream I was drowning my sorrows but my sorrows they learned to swim" is genius. Other contenders are God part II, October, Desire, and 11 o'clock tick tock.
"Love Comes Tumbling" off Wide Awake In America. A song i suspect is a "throw away" song; being a B-side and not having made it onto "The Unforgettable Fire" full-length. But those kinds of songs are often my favorite...the overlooked and underappreciated.
I don't think I could ever pick one song ! WOW. Like most U2 fans, I have been listening to them for over 25 years now and each song carries a memory from all those years, all those concerts and of coarse the awesome U2 3D movie ! A must see for any U2 fan !!
That is a very tuff choice to make, as is a favorite album. I think Bad, One, Where the streets have no name, Sunday Bloody Sunday. I could go on and on. I have favorites on every album, including live songs. U2 is truely the worlds best band EVER, but that is just my opinion.
