Hey fellow vintage sellers! Just for fun, I am curious what everyone's prized possessions are in their store or private collections. Sometimes I find things that are so hard to want to sell but I know that they would just sit in my closet forever if I didn't sell it. My best item is a Don Loper wool suit. I had it in my store for a bit and decided to take it out until I could get it appraised. It was an incredibly lucky find and it is just my size. What to do what to do.........what is your best item? My prized possessions right now are my mother's "Hippie dresses" from the 70's. One is embroidered, in the kind of indian-sgt. peppar style, one is a beautiful long gauze babydoll-bib dress with embroidery and lace at the top, and two others are long with a calico print and I believe they are from Hawaii, where my parents were stationed for a few years. They are so gorgeous and I will never sell them, but I like to have them around as inspiration!
The first is a 1972 Vintage Fender Acoustic Guitar, left to me by my Uncle as a family heirloom. As a side interest from ebay I songwrite, and have been covered several times locally, but I'm still waiting for that national cut. I play that guitar in every recording I have made, both with others who have covered my tunes, and my own demos. Take a listen if you like. http://www.myspace.com/larrylewismoon
The second would be an H Bar C Western Pearl Snap Shirt circa 1950's, a 2XL in size (alittle small for me, as a 4XL guy) - my hope is to loose weight and someday fit into it. It is black with white piping & embroidery of a guitar and musical notes on the shoulders and across the back of the shoulders. An incredible shirt. Anyhow, that's my contribution to the conversation.

I guess for me right now would be the Timex nurse's watch that my mother bought me in the 50's (?), hoping I would become a nurse someday --which I did, but somewhat later in life. By that time, no one was using a watch like that. It looks like a miniature pocket watch and is suspended by a retractable chain from a small round disc pin. I never tried to see if it still works. I'll try now! BC
thats a tough one, well I have more than a few but right now my 1940's navy blue full skirt dress that is made completely of ruched ribbons sewn strip upon strip & a 1940's straw hat that matches perfectly, a close second is my 1930's gingham dress made by a certain pattern company as a sample. Well I could go on & on but I wont.... except the dress that I use in my store homepage is pretty fabulous, although it has already gone to a good home.
You can take a look at mine- I have it up for sale right now. It doesn't fit me nicely anymore so I'm giving someone else the chance to own it. Its a mint condition psychedelic patterned mod mini dress from the mid-60's. I'll miss it when its gone but it deserves a home with someone who will wear it.
Aside from that my favorite vintage possessions are my records and 1962 portable sony record player which I inherited from my uncle.
It's hard to pick one. I will say it's a lucite purse that came to me from my aunt. It is a beautiful pearl color with not a scratch on it. She died at 96-yo and was like a mother to me. I treasure it so that I keep it in my China Cabinet on display with several other treasured vintage purses.
