My dad passed down a bunch of old records to me, and am interested in learning how to sell them and the best way to find out how much they are worth! I have nearly every genre covered country/ country greatest hits, r&b, classic rock/country greatest hits, polka music, hymns, walt disney, christmas albums, psychadelic music. I have some albums that have no english writting. I also have a boatload of 45s too. Any ?s or comments would be greatly appreciated. I would really like to sell to people who appreciate what I sell to them because these records have been a part of my family for a long time. I have around 300 records. This collecrion covers music from the 40s to the 80s To list some of the country artist I have johnny cash, merle haggard, hank snow, ferlin huskey, georhe jones roger miller, glen campbell, dollie parton, loretta lynn, faron young, just to begin in country. In classic rock I have lynard skynard, black sabbath, van halen, aerosmith, jesus christ superstar, jimi hendrix, journey, beatles, eric clapton, creme, steppenwolf, led zeppelin, moody blues, the guess who, rolling stones earth wind and fire, and many more! In r&b- soul I have diana ross and the suprenes, dona sommers ink spots, belefote. I am not gonna list them all now, I still have a lot of research to do before I even start selling! I have the 5th addition goldmine album record price guide to help me guide through this Thanks again!

Wish I could help both of us in finding the right person , or place to sell to ! If you sell to a dealer you want get but a fraction of what the record is worth,of course. So you need to find a collector, where to go? You have the best book there is on records. I paid more for the book than any record I have bought ! I wish I had the money to buy some records from you. The BEATLES should be easy to sell , depending on condition and rarity.I am selling to a person who is going to sell them on ebay. I did sell a rare record to a collector ,after I put an ad. in GOLDMINE magazine. Wish I could be more help. GOOD LUCK !

it will be quite hard to sell your albums and expect to get top dollar for all of them, i have a record store on ebay, and i will sell my albums at a fraction of the price only because many collectors have different opinions on what condition your record is in, also other sellers will have that item too, i would not recommend going to a collector, because they will give you a bare minimum and won't tell you what the rare ones are worth.....i would recommend putting the lot on ebay in one whole group of records or break them down into small lots and list the artist, title and brief description,

I am in the same boat! My father also handed me down an array of albums. We drove out to get them from New York to Illinois since the shipping cost was too high. We are preparing to move and I really don't want to move all these records, just don't know if any of them are worth anything to anyone besides my father. Good luck and hope for the same for me.

A good rule of thumb is that most old records are worth $1 or less, the average price you can sell them for at a yard sale. Use your price guide to determine which have the highest value but don't get hung up on that amount. Learn the lesson of CONDITION: Condition MATTERS!! A high book value record that is trashed has little or no value. You can check on eBay or GEMM to see what people are asking for a record you have. By joining eBay you can see what records actually sell for. Unless you want to spend a lot of time educating yourself and doing research, sell them for a buck apiece to your local record store (if you can find one) or put them out at a yard sale.

completed items search of any particular item to see what others have paid in the past. Good luck. I will look for your records and hopefully buy some from you.
