I need a frame to replace mine that is rusted out, including floor pans and all supports. My body is OK. Bought car off ebay from NJ with false promises of condition. Fooled once. Need help. I am looking for someone to give me a turnkey job. Thanks. Lee

Expensive. The body needs to come off to replace the floor pans. I've never done this but it doesnt seem to bad from what I've read. Then you need a decent mig welder $500 plus. I have a 74 KG convertible, 71 KG auto-stick, and a 69 KG hardtop that all need the same thing as yours. $160 for a KG pan, thats one side so $320 per car.Somewhat less for a bug but not a super beetle. If yours isnt too bad you can buy whats called a half pan (one quarter of the whole floor) for much less money. Then weld, bolt, or even pop rivet it to the underside of the bad area. A little paint, and your good to go.

Hey, don't despair, happened to me as well. I bought a 73 vert and it is in aweful shape. Got it off the Samba, no refelction on the samba, great site. Newbie to online buying and should have not done that. Pis were misleading and the mess had been glossed over to hide the extensive damage!

Good practice to see before buying especially with the antique. I bought for 2500.00, paid 600.00 for transport and now into my mechanic for 5k! Then I will need to re-build the top. Too far in to stop now, I'm afraid.

They thesamba.com and see if they have a search that you can tag your name to. there is a large air cooled community there and a lot of useful tips, and grea advice. Good luck, don"t give up!

where are you located? the vert has an extra section on the bottom of the body for support seperate from the floor pan. if these are rusted, the repair is expensive. if only floor pan halfs need replacing, the repair is reasonable compared to the value of the car once it is restored.
